Performance Package

Performance Package
First post from a first time MB owner. I've been searching the forums and Google, but can't figure something out. I recently acquired a very low mileage 14 E63 AMG S after doing some serious research. Car came to me through word of mouth from an older gentleman that had the vehicle as essentially a weekend toy. My question is this...when searching for a W212, I noticed some dealers would detail their listing as "Performance Package." What does that actually mean? Is it bc they were "S" models? The other cars I looked at had the same sticker price (sticker included with my14), varying options but totaled were within a few hundred bucks, so what am I missing? Keep in mind the other cars I looked at were not say a Renntech tune, they were cpo MB dealer rigs. Forgive the ignorance since I've been a long time Range Rover owner and needed a change. Thanks

The Pre-2014 E63 model came with an option package called the performance package. It was mainly an increase of power through software tuning going from I believe 525hp to 550hp. For 2014, Mercedes essentially made the performance package a separate model designation as an “S model”.they included a limited slip differential (which was previously an option), horsepower bump from 550hp to 577hp, additional cooling capacity, increased top speed limiter to 186mph from 155 mph and minor cosmetic tweaks (red brake calipers, stitching and S model basing on rear deck and instrument cluster).

Hello fellow RR Ex-Pat... I keep one in the stable the other ready willing and able. Glad to see a Brit-Brother over in these parts.
From what I understand all Mercedes Benz 4matic / AMG-S E63 have the performance PKG but it is separate from the "speed delimiter" option.
The easiest way to find out what you have is through a VMI or build sheet outlining the options and spec. If you can get your hands on this you better assess the value and level of desire for the vehicle.
