Washer fluid delay

Washer fluid delay
When I press the button to wash the windshield, the blades wipe dry once or twice before the washer fluid sprays. Is this normal?
i didn't realize until I had a 2019 loaner last week which thoroughly wets the windshield before the blades actuate.
thanks

Sometimes the obvious escapes me, so I never assume.
Good Luck.

Same with mine ... there is a delay ... the wipers should be programmed to come in a second or two after the spray has been primed and starts spraying like on many cars...

Good question. I had thought it is not normal. Maybe normal has a wide range. My car does not have the delay. I was serious about the fluid level. Higher fluid level creates what is known as hydrostatic pressure. This pressure rise feeds the pump inlet. Thereby allowing for a faster “priming” of the fluid circuit. On a different older car it was sluggish when the reservoir was low.

OK, so I am going off of memory and I must confess that it is possible mine does indeed do it as well. I think I would have noticed if it did. But maybe not. I will report back after I get a chance to try it. She's all cleaned up at the moment and I don't want to mess up the windshield. But I will in the next couple days. Rain is supposed to be coming. Ugh

Update
So we are currently getting dumped on here in Cali with rain so I was able to test my washer response. The first time I hit it after not using it for awhile it has a delay of about 1-1/2 wiper cycles before spraying. However, after the first time, and the system is primed, it is pretty instant.
All in all it is a non issue for me personally.
I said I would update once I was able to try it and here it is.
Cheers

My 2014 wagon did the same thing it ended up being the hose from the pump to the washers jets it is a complete unit with a wire built inside the hose, I was trying to put in a check valve like the old Mercedes did not realize there was a wire inside , we first replace the pump and that did not solve it. Once we put the new hose on it was like it supposed to be.
