Engine cover lost the star
Somehow the star on mine is just gone. MB wants $$$ for a whole new cover. I checked mb parts online and at least the dealer is not tryign to rip me off, but, I just don't want to spend that kind of money on something I see twice a year.
Any other cool options out there just to replace the circle?
And, how did it fly off? There is zero trace of it.

this happened on mine too lol you dont need a whole new cover. you just need a replacement emblem. If you dont care to change the whole thing then you can put any replacement emblem there I read somewhere on this forum that the circle is the size of a wheel cap. I was considering putting a custom emblem there perhaps an AMG wheel cap if I can find one on ebay. The only part I think you'll have problem sourcing is the mesh material behind the emblem

Now that the emblem is gone, what's there? A hole or a flat surface? Cuz if it's a flat surface and what amgboy916 says is true "circle is the size of a wheel cap" (I suppose he meant wheel center cap)... buy a set of eBay ones, grind the supports off with a dremel and glue it one there. They cost >$15 for a set of four!

Take the opportunity to upgrade to the Carbon Fiber Engine cover. It comes with a new star too! lol The new CF cover is only about $1400 and the name plate is fairly easy to transfer. But I'm guessing that if the stock cover was too expensive, the CF is likely not an option?? And just in case you didn't know you can swap the covers yourself in about 30 seconds by hand with no tools.
Yeah, I'm not paying $1400 for an engine cover. If I was a baller I'd be DD'ing an FF and not a Mercedes Wagon!

I will measure it and post a pic later this weekend.
Hopefully this $12 will fit in there. It comes with 3M tape already too.

You may want to use a high temp adhesive as the 3M heavy duty may not tolerate engine bay temps
