My "AMG" illuminated floor plate on the the drivers side is very dim. I have a feeling the LED is fixing to die. I want to remove it pretty soon to replace the LED. Does anybody know where I can buy this specific LED? Seems like an easy enough replacement. I've already found the ribbon cable and connector.. The somewhat difficult part is removing the floor/scuff plate. I realize its held on by adhesive as well. Ain't nothing I can't solve with a little heat and some 10lb test string. 😊 Also, does anybody know where I can buy the specific adhesive to reinstall?
3m makes a trim adhesive or maybe even silicone adhesive should work, tape it down while the stuff cures. Don't think you'll be able to replace the LEDs because there are way too many color ratings (Kelvin), I would guess the originals are around 6000K, that bluish tint, but figuring out which ones and then finding replacements will be near impossible. I think you'll end up buying a new one at the dealer. Or try getting one from a wrecked AMG if you can find one. Sorry to be negative.
Not much a a bluish tint on mine. It's a Cool white. But even if I find one and order one and it turns out to be a different color than the passenger side, I'll replace the passenger side as well with the same replacement LED. Looking at this photo it seems like an odd one forsure.. and I'm not too sure it's not molded into the AMG diffuser... so I may be screwed reguardless. I really don't wanna shell out the money for new ones, and I really don't wanna buy ones off fleabay.. especially when it looks like ol Joe blow removed the plate with a big flathead screwdriver 😅. Do I have any other possible options?
