Hmmm, I wasn't aware they made a bunch of money. I mean obviously they are gonna get paid for work they do. Maybe you are right though since as you all know, they dropped a spanking new M157 motor in my car 6 months ago! I was told the retail value of the motor just in the crate was $57k !!
On topic with the thread, this was actually done toward the end of the factory warranty. But my SA told me that they would have done the same thing for my ELW if that had been the case.
And Peter is correct. They did have to get approval from a factory rep for the new motor. But it was fast and painless.

i got the car back today, not even an hour after I left the dealer the car went into limp mode🤦*♂️. Restarted the car and everything went back to normal. The rough idle improved but it still has a rough idle sometimes. Engine mounts were changed twice within 10,000 miles. I’m thinking something is causing the engine mounts to go bad. I’m a very very aggressive driver btw, so maybe that has something to do with it.

i would argue that being an aggressive driver of an amg product should have nothing to do with it.... meaning limp mode.
engine mounts is all about aggressive driving but rough idle doesn't necessarily mean bad mounts

Engine mounts shouldnt fail that quick even if you drive it very hard, now if your car was modified performance wise then i could see it happening but still not likely at that interval. Even if an engine mount was to fail prematurely due to pushing the car excessivle, one side should be the first to go not both.

im going to drop it off tmrw, I need a break from the loaner e300, that car drives me insane. I took the car to an independent mechanic, they don’t know what’s causing the rough idle, but they found an oil leak from the timing cover.

Also the “longer than usual crank” is one of the symptoms of streched timing chain. It depends how many miles you have but since you noted that you drive it pretty hard it could have streched a little earlier maybe. Since its the 2012 model year theres a high chance that it doesnt have the updated chain.
Wish you luck man.

FWIW our 2015 e63s does not shake in neutral or park.
What were the compression numbers that the dealership noted when they said you were down on compression?

the only time I ever felt the steering shake on cold start was when it was sitting in 15 F for hours ....

30ish labor hours max. Mercedes actually pays them less per labor hour and pays less parts margin on all warranty work. They need approval for engines and transmission(and sometimes other components) replacements due to cost or frequent misdiagnosis

Did you solve this issue? I’m experiencing the same with my cls 63, sometimes it cranks longer to start and it shakes a little in park and neutral.
