Muted/Shortened Chime
'16 E63 Wagon with <20k miles
This is my baby and she lives in the garage.
A few months ago the chime when you enter the car or turn it on got shorter or cut off.
So instead of 'dong' it cuts out 'don-'
I've been racking my brain and searching the web for a while without an answer. Took it to the dealer and they are being very stubborn 'nothing is wrong' - 'we can't take it apart to look for something that isn't there' - 'there's no fault' - etc...
This is literally my 15th benz, I have an E300 and a C300 currently as well , so I know what the chime sounds like.
Dunno why, but it's driving me crazy like it's broken

If anyone has heard this before or can shed some light I'd be thankful.

I'm gonna go pick it up from the dealer tomorrow.
First thing I'm gonna check is the fuse box for the instrument cluster - long shot I think.
If I'm not making sense I'll have to put the e-classes next to eachother and do a short video comparison lol

Thanks for your input!
Surprised no one thought of it. I actually installed a trickle charge cable not too long ago and it didn't work then. Guess the prolonged disconnect was important.
Thanks again!
some service guys are just idiots
