I was driving home the other day 94 degrees out. My oil temp was reading 239 and water was 201. Is that fairly normal. I was doing 70mph no wide open throttle runs at all. I have a 2013 E63.

What year is your car? The 2014+ have more oil cooling. I see north of 225 if I am driving with a bit of enthusiasm. If I am going all out it will be much higher (happy to log for you). Mobil 1 is fine well beyond 300*, so I wouldn't worry. about the temperature so much. That said, I would check the oil level for sure.

Thank you for the info, its a 2013 i updated my original post. I think my next oil will be amsoil. I did check the level, oil is brand new and at proper level. So I should be ok.

I don't believe AMSOIL will be any different. From what I have read (take with a grain of salt), the 2014 have an additional oil cooler, so I suspect your 2013 will run a tad warmer than others. If you are really concerned then I would add an additional oil cooler. (I actually thought about adding another oil cooler for my 2014.)
My default display when driving is the AMG Oil temp screen so I know as soon as I am allowed go WOT after startup In the heat it runs 90C-105C depending on how long it's been since flooring it; and if I'm still driving ie: air passing through and not sitting in traffic. Google says that's 195-220F.
I have a 2016.
My water is always 199 never seen anything but 199. oil on HWY 195-210 boosting 225- 227.
With M1 I notice my oil temp would take sometime to return to normal even on a cool day switch to Liqui Moly and noticed oil temp come back to normal much faster and going into blue 177 much faster. No need to add oil like when I used M1.
0w 40.
Just 2 days ago, I saw about 108C, about 230+ F on an all out hill climb in 100 degree. temp. Driving time app. 20 min. Lots of passing involved too.
It's a wagon 2014.

239 hot ******* is OK but cruising I think it’s high. But I’m in Canada it’s only over 90F outside for the summer.
239F for oil temps seems high especially if cruising in C trans mode, but I am not sure what your mileage was or what trans mode you typically drive in? Sorry if you mentioned that but I didn’t see it in the thread....
I’m in chicsgo and on hot 95F ten days my oil temp while driving in C mode normal cruising is never more than 200-210F. I’ve driven really hard before in 95F temps in S+ mode with repetitive hard pulls and get up to 225-230F oil temp but never really seen anything more than that. I’m in a 2015 E63S with 32k miles and oils has been the spec Mobile.
Is your oil level correct? Assuming too that your oil level sensor is working correctly.... dealer check it out yet?

The oil level is correct according to the dipstick and its brand new. Just not sure if the dealer i bought it from put the correct oil. I mostly cruise in comfort mode very rare i would be in sport. I think once i get my car back from the body shop im gonna just change the oil. I wanna do amsoil not much more then any other oil. Is it 5-40?
I saw your post and took a pic of my oil temp. It always stays in the 210-220 range when cruising on the highway, outside temps in the 90s, high humidity, typical summer day in Georgia. 239 does seem high. Water temps stays between 197-199. Btw, I only use Mobil1 0W-40
change it again at a local shop and bring your oil and filter
Try the LM 0 40 what I noticed with LM over the M1 is that the temp return to normal temp and reach normal temp faster. Once in the 225 range with M1 it will take for ever to come back down not so with LM.
My oil temps on my 2014 E63 S wagon ave never gone above 214 on the dash (and within a degree or two of that on my scanner). Hottest was at tail of the dragon. Water is usually about 2-5 degrees cooler but occasionally the same. that's in Virginia's hot and humid days (100 degrees/90%) in stop and go backups and the highway. Highway temps will hover around 190-200. She's got 73,000 miles on her.

Reason: spelling
I also have a 2013 E63. The hottest I have seen is 229, and that was a spirited drive up a mountain when it was 117 outside. It immediately dropped back down to 215 when i got off the throttle. 239 seems high.
Sounds like a bad oil thermo or bad oil, 239 from what I'm gathering from most is too high. I’m gonna change the oil anyway and have my mechanic check the thermostat and see whats going on. I got a tune and a couple of other parts to install going to have to hold off till i figure why oil temps are high.
