Oil change goof, way overfilled — HELP!
I made a huge mistake this morning and decided to change my oil on my m157 with apparently not enough sleep and not enough time.
I used my Topsider extractor as I have done numerous times in the past with my gl450 and e63 (m156). However, this time the tubing was super stiff and still had some residual oil from last change. The pinch clamp was difficult to close and when I released clamp, the tubing was so hardened it didn’t open well and the suction was terrible.
I knew it was wasn’t optimal but was trying to get the job done. I pumped and released, pumped and released, probably 20 times until I heard the sounds straw sucking an near empty cup sound and assumed I had gotten near y’all the oil out. i picked up the topsider can and knew I hadn’t gotten 9+ quarts out but I was bone dry on the dip before the oil change so I figured I was a few quarts under to begin with.
i began putting in the new oil. Knowing that this engine accepts 9+ qts. I proceeded to
fill with 8 qts. Then my thought was to cap oil filler, hand tighten oil filter, and return dipstick and start the engine to warm it up (it had gotten cold - hence another reason I probably was having suction troubles) to get a dipstick reading.
Upon turning the engine on, I immediately noticed that oil was spraying out my open engine bay and pouring out the bottom dripping nit on my driveway. I immediately turned off the car.
i have no clue what to do next. I decided to empty topside can into empty 5 qt oil bottle. Only filled it up to 2 qts!! I think I may have overfilled the engine by a good 5 qts.
Right now all I want to do it punch myself, but that isn’t going hep solve the
problem. My initial though is to run to hard ware store and replace the hardened old tubing and try to extract all the oil and essentially re-do the oil change.
Looking for advice, solutions, and prayers...☹️
The M157 engine is ONLY supposed to be drained via the drain bolt on the bottom of the pan, this is per AMG instructions.

whats interesting my mercedes dealer mechanic who is amg certified told me that this motor was actually made to be top side extracted...this helps speed up process for dealerships
he personally only drained from drain plug
Per Mercedes, for efficiency (money maker talk), NON AMG’s 'CAN' get the top side service. I would still recommend drain.
For the M157, the work instructions are via drain plug.
On top of this, there is a specific warning on the notes on M157 oil changes page in WIS;
