Just started research

I previously bought an '06 E55 and loved the car. I am now looking at buying a W212 and prefer the facelift and AWD. Are there any specific years to avoid if possible? The '14-'15s seems to be a good value now. Is the "S" model worth paying a premium? I am not opposed to a RWD earlier model as they seems to have fallen in value quite a bit. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks!

- Agree that 14-15 is the best value. 16 has the updated COMAND head unit if you care about that (can be updated for apple carplay/android auto).
- I wouldn't bother with non-S. They're not much cheaper and harder to find than the S models anyway.
- I would personally avoid the pre-14 RWD models because they have timing chain issues and break traction too easily (unless you like that).

Get the S, better resale and more HP without having to throw your warranty into the fire. And don’t try to rationalize any part of this decision, it’s a giant waste of money on a quickly depreciating asset no matter how you slice it. Do simply what makes you happy.
