2012 E63 w/ PP
I've spent some time researching which AMG to go with. I think I've landed on a 2012 E63 w/ PP with roughly 60K miles. I had MB pull the service records and it was religiously serviced with them. I've negotiated my deal and seem to be pretty content with it. I did have a question however... My Credit Union who I'll be financing through is offering me a Route 66 Mechanical Break Down Insurance for $1,000 bucks for 36 months 36K miles - I've put below whats covered... lol . Would this be worth throwing on to it? I do work for an MB dealership and generally pay techs on the side to do services and maintenance. brake jobs cost me 20 bucks aside from parts and I get parts for cost ect.

Trying to get this nailed down so I can get the check cut and sent over to the dealership I am buying it from.
Seems like a decent warranty for the price. I have read of people mentioning that they buy warranties that are exclusionary (they cover everything except...). These cars are not cheap to fix or maintain, however if you work at a dealership then it sounds like you got the labor part covered.
On a slightly different topic - if you loose your job in the near future will you still be able to pay for the car? This pandemic is not going away fast sadly. This could last another 2 to 4 months if we look at what is happening in other parts of the world. Would not want to hear you or anyone else having to give up a car they just bought because they cannot make the payments. I like German cars especially the higher performance versions but I realize that that is a want and not a need. I also only by cars that I can afford to pay for in cash. No interest charges and less stress if something unexpected happens. Wish you all the best in these uncertain times.

I decided to skip the Route 66 warranty as I got the dealership to give me a 5 year 75K mile Platinum (exclusionary) warranty for 2800 bucks. That's from this date. 200 dollar deductible and already spoke with my service manager and said that the company the offered is great to work with and rarely deny warranty claims.
sent the dealership my approval and they are sending me paperwork! Super excited!!
haha! I should be getting the paperwork on Monday or Tuesday to sign so once I actually have the vehicle in my possession (hopefully by Friday) I’ll snap some! Will probably work on a paint correction and do the ceramic coating next weekend. 😍

My advice is get a CPO car and get the longest warranty you can. CPO cars are a premium but after owning dozens of cars I can say without a doubt that on expensive, complicated vehicles, they are worth every penny.

2012-2014s can be had for high 20s to mid 30s right now. A CPO M157 is most likely going to be a 2016 and up at nearly twice what he paid for the 2012.
Also $2000 for a major AMG repair is not much to fret over. I've spent that on average, yearly, on my wife's old 535i
It was just delivered today while I was at work!
