2013 E63 Rear Differential Fluid Question
I bought my car used with 64K miles and trying to change the rear differential fluid.
How do I know if my car is equipped with Limited Slip Differential?
Were all 2013 E63's equipped with LSD? or should it have option code 471 or 472?
Also, what fluid should I be using if my car does not have LSD?
FCP Euro only seems to have 75W140 but isn't this for cars equipped with LSD?

Congrats on the purchase. The easiest way to check is lookup option code 471 in the data card (LastVIN.com). If your vehicle does not show 471, raise the rear end, put in Neutral to spin the wheels. If the other side spins in the opposite direction, you have an OPEN diff. For model years 12-13, Mercedes removed LSD option 471 from the Performance Package (P30) and made it a stand-alone option. To lookup fluids, check the BeVo list (bevo.mercedes-benz.com) for your fluids. Need 1.2L diff oil 215 FE in MB approved list 235.61 Gear Oils (Hypoid gear). This tells you 75W-140, p/n A0019895203, which is Castrol Syntrax Limited Slip 75W-140 with Mercedes OEM labels over the bottle for AMG E63. The approved list is short, so you do not think too much. Hope this helps.

Checked LastVIN.com and I don't have Option code 471.
Seems like the fluid specifications are the same for both 75W140 (either for regular differential or LSD)
Could anybody with experience please confirm if this is true?
Thanks,.

Looked up MB Service Manual and seems like
Rear Axle (Standard Differential) should use 75W-85
Rear Axle with AMG Differential Lock should use 75W-140

Your research is spot on. This is the spec. IMHO, either diff fluid would do. Both are decent multi-grade, and the 75W-140 maintains better (thicker) film at higher operating temps.
