Full LED lights?
Can we get the EU lights with the smart high beams on our cars??
Vlad is doing magic again?
Have been driving a bunch on two lane roads at night lately and the effect is simply amazing.
I'm a headlight junky and once I found out there was an additional functions I was pretty excited, but before I pulled the $500 trigger, I took my car for a drive just to see what my USA spec 2014 w212 LEDs already do.
They already have cornering lights when the wheel is turned
They already illuminate the sides when the blinker is engaged.
They already have an automatic highbeam that dips for oncoming traffic.
So please correct me if I am wrong, the only thing I'm paying $500 for is:
1. the small change is beam patter when the rear fog light it turned on
2. instead of lowering the entire beam for an oncoming/following car, It either makes a shadow box or just the drivers side lowers ?
That's it??
Here is a test I did tonight:

Have not tried seeing what changes with the rear fog light on, and have not noticed if there is a partial lowering of the lights for oncoming traffic (with highway speeds). Will need to pay more attention to it.

And when the road turns - the black box follows the car.
It really is incredible and makes night driving on two lane roads much better.
Second example, on the highway, you can use high beams. Esp interesting when you are in the right lane (always the best to speed in since it's usually emptiest and cops are less likely to think you are speeding in the right lane). Now the side of the road is lit up with high beams! So much better!
If you were local I'd show you. If I knew you I'd tell you I'd buy it for you and if you didn't like it I'd take the hit for the $500.
It's that good....

But for our w212, I knew it made a shadow box when you were following somebody, but everyone was saying that it just lowers the beams for oncoming. You're saying it also makes a shadow box for oncoming traffic that follows the car until it passes?

I found some short falls, as for example oncoming bicycles with their mini lights won't get recognized. Also, cars that want to turn into a main road don't shine enough light to the sensor so people looking into your direction will get blinded big time.
Once the headlights go automatically into the dimmed mode, let's say oncoming traffic is passing, it takes some 5 seconds until the brights turn on again.
This is the biggest short fall. When you're on curvy back roads, you might move 100 yards before the high beams engage.
I wouldn't purchase this option if it wasn't already installed.
My 2 cents.

I do agree I wish there was a way to set the aggressiveness of the light to go back to high beams. That said - it's not 5 seconds for me. May feel that way, but it's more like 2-3 seconds. Still too much.
