M157 variations?

I have a 2012 cls63 with the p30 package and I’m just working on getting an exhaust and tune done. The independant shop I’m having the exhaust install done at, is informing me that my power gains from a tune, won’t compare to the same stage 2 tune in a 2014 e63s . They are saying that the turbos and placement are different in the e63s from the cls63? I was under the impression the powerplants are the same, besides the e63 being awd...? Any info on this?

Theres no difference, except minor things like split cooling in 13+, dif timing chains/gears, tensioners and check valve for the chain rattle. Of course there could be more minor things but those are some of the more obvious ones. Same turbos and placement. In fact you can stick a m157 motor from a 2016 AWD car in to a 2012 RWD car, just gotta swap the oil pan and the pick up tube. I think that shop is mistaking.

The split cooling for other body styles like your W218 P30 may be earlier. Curious nuances, agreed.

Your shop doesn’t know these cars and therefore you should go to another one
