I did a search and found nothing. OK, so since I bought my 2016 E63 last year, it has had a intermittent pop noise whenever I roll into a steep driveway or parking lot. No big deal.
Well this week I was rolling out of a parking spot and my rear wheel fell into a big hole. Very slowly, but it happened. Now the popping is rapid and happens even on mild inclines and on steep ones it is like someone is shooting at me.
Anyone know what the heck is going on?

If you have the pano roof it’s more than likely the culprit. When the car goes into torsion I believe the set screws for the roof give and pop. The fix appears to be dealer re-torquing down of those screws.

“Pano pop” for sure.

you can DIY it by dropping the headliner enough to get your hands and tools in there to remove, locktite, and replace the six bolts.

I have had the dealer fix it and it went away for a year it came back now but no where near as bad as it once was. I assume if I tighten them again I’ll be good for another year lol

 

Well you guys need to give yourself a pat on the back. I just got an email from the dealership. Here is what the dealership says:


" TRACE NOISE TO REAR OF SUNROOF MOUNTING. FOUND
MOUNTING SCREWS LOOSE MADE ADJUSTMENTS TO SCREWS GOING TO SUNROOF RAILS NO MORE SOUND . REASSEMBLE."

no pat on the back necessary ... pano pop is as old as the pano roof itself ... that's at $1500 repair bill too
