Question Question for the experts

Hello guys and girls.

I’ve recently bought a 2013 e63 (5.5), all seems to be going well but I have a quick question for you.

When I select the gear using the gear stick, or press the P I can hear a clicking mechanical noise from the gearbox.

From what I understand of the gearbox it will be coming from the servo (or whatever the technical term is). Should I be able to hear this selecting D-N-R and P?

I still have a few months warranty and if it’s going to fail I would like to sort it, if it’s normal I will shut up and enjoy her.

Im going thorough the “listen to every noise part of a new car” it’s an awesome car absolutely love it.

Thank you all in advance

Totally normal to hear the "prndl" motor when using the gearshift to go from park to neutral, reverse or drive, or any other combination.

Be thankful for that noise, it’s the best indication that the damn P button is working.

One piece of advice that has served me very well over the years. When you have about 2-3 months left of the warranty, take the car to a mechanic (not the dealer) and let them do a PPI, pay for the hour or two of labour.
Then take that list and go to the dealer and make an appointment to fix anything and everything that is warranty material. Many times you get used to the car over time, including noises, and then don't realize that seat belts retract too slowly, or the bump you have heard "forever" is really a broken bushing, or the passenger seat heater is broken, or....
