Mercedes Benz E63S
Low on power P228097

Hello, new to the forums. I just got a 2014 E63S with 42,000 miles. No mods. Only error code in the car is P228097 "The air mass flow in the intake air system (cylinder Bank 1) has a malfunction. The system function is restricted. I feel my car is low on power (doing 0-60 at 5.2 seconds). Apparently car has an intake leak. Couldn't find in the forums someone with the same issue.

Any help is appreciated.

I think m157 has Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor instead of MAF. Check the cloth intake tubes make sure theres no leak. Next open up intakes and check the filters. Check the clamps on the charge pipes/filters. Makes sure the connection between those two don't have a leak. Those should be you first things to check before digging deeper. Also try swapping the MAP sensors on the intakes to see if possibly the fault transfers.

I know this is a old thread but would like to ask if could find the reason of getting this error and did you solve it? I am getting exactly same error and this happened after I checked/clean air filters. I cannot find what is going on. I would appreciate if you could share your findings.

Check the status of the airbox sensors

Car is still under 35K miles. Is it possible for air sensors to go bad this early?

May not be bad - could simply be disconnected or not properly inserted into the airbox. Has the car ever had wet filters like K&N? Over-oiled filters can certainly damage sensors.

No never had any other kind of filters, only original stock filters. I checked sensors but they look they were inserted correctly nothing look abnormal to me.
