I think I already know the answer, but I wanted to see other experience.
Initially I thought my oil pan or rear main was leaking, but on further analysis, It appears to be grease from the front U-joint being slung onto the oil pan, which then drools down to the bottom on the pan.
My car has 11k, but I also had a 22k mile e63 that had a similar stain and heck, even my buddy with a 2k mile has the same thing.
I took it to the dealer today since my car is under warranty and they said it would be covered, but I kind of think MB just loads of grease when new and the excess gets thrown out in the first few thousand miles. I hate the thought of dropping my car off there, If its normal, I think im going to just wipe it off and move on.
Anyone else?
This is interesting, my friends car had the same EXACT thing back in 2016, he had about 14K miles when we noticed it. No leaks, we cleaned it and never had a drip of anything again or stain.
I would clean it off, continue to drive it and see if it comes back. Any kind of leak will come back if its not fixed.since the car is under warranty id wait on that till you can verify 100% its a leak and not grease slinging. Bet the dealer might do the same if they dont have enough proof its coming from the oil pan
