P1CE8 CEL

Hey guys,
I've noticed after the blackboost intake I've been getting this code intermittently. P1CE8. There's not much information on it. Anyone have an idea on what it is?

Your intake sensors, not sure if thats driver or passenger side.
Mine comes on here and there too. Not sure why

I saw that thread but the thing is it showed that one for a p1ce7 code mines is the p1ce8 idk if theyre smiliar or not. But it only happened after installing the new blackboost intakes like the guy who started this thread. So i wanted to see if he found a solution to his. Thank you

chances are if you start a thread on this .. you'll most likely never come back to report the fix. $0.02

I had emailed Jose with blackboost and he gave me another elongated harness. Seems like maybe it might be that.

I recently installed the blackboost intake and got a code a week later. I double checked all sensors and cleared the code. Made sure each sensor was clicked in, so far so good.

My car throws these codes as well... right after black boost install. P1CE8 and P1CE7 (also P1CE800 /P1CE700 ) ones for left, ones for the right (Crankcase ventilation in wide open throttle operation (cylinder bank 1/2) has a malfunction
Its not a leak, its poor design on blackboost. It wont trip a CEL, but its registered in the back ground, likely on all BB equipped cars.

I have the same code with the BB intakes. The cel for my car only pops when I give it moderate throttle (50% or so) from a stop. I was sent an "updated extension harness" but it didn't help

So we checked all the seals and tightened them even more and reconnected the sensors and cleared the code. For a good 50 miles no light came on nothing but then suddenly came back on. Now I’m waiting for the harness to see if that’ll fix it.

also there was no leaks we checked with a smoke machine so that wasn’t the issue

From xentry
800 is bank 2
700 is bank 1

Sure, if you get one or the other, it is possible you have a leak. But if you get both at the same time after blackboost it's poor integration and R&d from black boost
You can almost tell that they knew about it since they have 2 locations for the sensors. The original at the back of the filter box and then the second on the intake pipe. It's like they were trying to figure out out and have up lol.

Are the codes you mentioned can only viewed with xentry? My ancel is not showing anything after I cleared it.

Are both intake sensors identical? Wondering if installing on wrong side is causing codes to throw.

there are tons of codes that xentry will show, but a regular obdii scanner wont. I will literally tell you when and how long you unplugged the puddle light under the door lol

I've also had this code for the past 2 years that I've had the BB intake. Probably came on at least 10x this year alone, pretty annoying.

So according to one of the comments on my video, one guy claims there are some special harness from blackboost for BOTH sides (not just an extension) to get rid of the codes...
this is news to me.
Anyone else heard of this or contacted bb?

For my code it was showing both at one point but then mainly the p1ce8 code it’s still on after deleting it. We did a smoke check for leaks nothing was showing signs of leak. But today while the check engine was on I floored the car and it went into limp mode sort of and check engine was flashing and a bit of burning smell. I’m still waiting on the harness to see what’s going on if that’s the fix but ya all the spark plugs and coils were changed and torqued right before installing the intakes so I doubt those will be the issue. Let’s see how it goes.

I get the same code/codes off and on post BB install as well. I've swapped out harnesses...seems to keep the CEL away longer, but eventually pops back up. I've never gone into limp mode with mine...a bit unexpected given the price of admission on the intake, but enjoying it even with this nuisance.

Have the same issue on my 2012 CLS550 install BB intakes about 2 weeks ago and got a check engine CEL’s. Seems like it’s a hit or miss to when it pops up at WOT, regular driving everything is fine.

Dumb question, as I just started getting this code recently. Any chance it's the sensors themselves causing the issue? We're throwing all of this extra airflow at them. Perhaps we're this is a symptom of them failing?

Some thoughts on this:

At low load, the PCV system gets its vacuum from after the throttle blade. At WOT, it gets it from the intake tube between the filter and turbo. The Blackboost intakes flow better, so won't generate as much vacuum in the tube. I think everything is working as expected, just sometimes goes out of the acceptable range for the ECU. If that's the case, it could most likely be "fixed" in a tune that either changes the threshold for the error or disables it.

My CEL has never come up on WOT; seems to pop up when I'm just tooling around, letting car come up to temp or once warm, just playing with the throttle to enjoy the exhaust note.

Are you guys actually getting a check engine light on the dash?

The two cars I see daily with blackboost intakes have never actually triggered a check engine light, it just shows a registered error anytime the car is scanned.


When comparing stock to BB, in both cases the sensor is before the filter.
The code specifically says it is a fault only during wide open throttle scenarios.
In my opinion, it seems plausible that because of the lack of filter resistance, the amount of vacuum is under the threshold of what the computer thinks it should have at wide open throttle thus it triggers the error.
however, there still should be some resistance no matter what, so it is also plausible that the sensor is incorrectly placed the designer of bb. The fact that there are two locations for the sensor shows me that they were likely aware of the situation and just couldn't figure it out.

The driver side is extremely simple, it's a 4 inch tube that goes straight to an oil water separator mounted on the valve cover. There is basically nothing that could go wrong unless that little tube is torn. The passenger side is much more complicated, it has a long hard plastic line that runs to the back of the motor to a centrifugal pump which has lines that run both to the throttle body and to the pump.
But the fact that the air on the two cars I look at comes up simultaneously just shows that the sensors are triggering the incorrect flow.
