Main Battery Replacement
It's time for a new main battery in my 2013 E63. I plan to purchase a battery and install it myself, but checking to see if there are any precautions or a SOP. I assume it's best to swap batteries while it's running...
Thanks for any information!

Never heard of changing battery while car is running. Why?

I think OP meant to say that it's a good idea to replace the battery while it's still functional![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Changing the battery is very straightforward, but it's a good idea to have a scanner to clear the error codes.

Always remove the negative first, however when you remove the positive, wrap it in a rag so it doesn't touch anything. On any normal car, when the battery is unhooked there's no voltage in the system at all. But since this car has two batteries, there is a chance that touching the positive to the car could short something out. I would imagine that Mercedes has some kind of protection for this, but I was not willing to test it LOL
