Diy cam sensors and magnet solenoids

Found oil in one of my cam sensors as seen in my last video... so I replaced all 4. Also did 2 magnets preventively. Of the 4, 1 is easy, 2 are hard and the last one impossible lol... I did the hard ones.

Imo, checking these sould be done every oil change, thoughts?

Motor mounts and pano rattle next....

I'll check on that vacuum pump/hose right away.
Already did the cam sensors.
Thanks for making this video.

Surprisingly, FCP is like really expensive on all this stuff. I got the magnets from Amazon for 32 with free shipping, and Mercedes parts source for the cam sensors at 36 plus very reasonable shipping, especially considering I bought the motor mounts and a bunch of trim parts and a couple of things at the same time

Yeah FCP Genuine parts are understandably spendy, but that decision already paid for itself because of their lifetime replacement. Did cam sensors a few years ago, then they leaked again and I got a new set from them for free.

Was there ever an updated part number for the cam sensors that doesn't allow oil to weep through?
Are there pigtails available for the M157 to act as a safety net for the main harness?

There was another guy who post on here who completely was able to disassemble the connectors clean them out. I'm not sure if he built pigtails or not, I can't find the thread though

Hmm I feel like there must be a way to form some sort of seal to not allow oil to weep through... I'm going to experiment with some spares I have.
Pretty good opportunity for some aftermarket company to come up with a leak proof sensor imo, they would sell like hot cakes.

Really easy actually. You have to order the new parts, then fill out a form on their website and print out the return info. Mailed it in, and got a credit right back on my credit card a week later.

The thing is, you can even do return credits on oil change kits but unless you're close to CT the shipping cost and effort doesn't make it worth it. I did get a credit on a trans service kit since they're $200 and shipping was only about $60 to send it back, so I'll keep doing that as long as I have this car. Slightly annoying to keep the fluid and send it in, but you can't beat $60 each time it needs changed!

Or maybe some kind of pigtail adapter to go between the sensor and the engine wire harness to obstruct the path of capillary action. The 'updated' sensors leaked on my GL63 so I don't have much hope MB will ever get this solved on the sensors themselves...

camshaft magnets on driver side of w212 m378 (E550)

Has anyone able to change camshaft magnets on driver side of w212 m378 (E550). One of the magnets is blocked by oil cooler pipes and impossible to reach. Is it easy to remove oil pipes?
