The cheaper sensors probably just stole the eBay picture from ZZP.
to be clear you're saying you had one bad harness ... you did not replace the actual cam position sensors or solenoids correct?

It still makes me wonder why benz didn't make a harness extension for the cps and just for the solenoids... maybe there is a resistance issue? Clearly they know about the cps and solenoids both leaking equally

What boggles my mind is how this can’t be remedied by re-designing adjusters and solenoids that don’t leak…

Rhetorical statement, cause I’ve never seen this type of issue on any other car I’ve owned. Oil leaks? Yes. But not through a damn wiring harness that goes straight to the ECU. Wonder if anyone who’s changes their sensors in the last year can comment on wether they’ve started leaking or not? I have the newest revision and changed them out last summer. So far no oil coming out of any of them.

i read about some GM's and Nissans having this issue too but I didn't spend enough time to determine if it's as prevalent as this one. Also I don't know how prevalent this really is for the 278/157... we are a focused concentrated group of complainers lol

My previous comment was erroneous.

Latest part number sensors and magnets seem to not leak by the group wisdom on this site.

The fact that they stole ZZ’s photo makes my apprehensive to purchase from them 😂

i did message the seller and they confirmed it fits the m157 even though it’s not listed on the description which I found odd.

ZZ’s doesn’t mention the m157 in the title either.

I ended up taking one for the team. Seller accepted my offer of $60 for the set. I wanna see if these are the same exact thing or if they’re knockoffs.

Edited my reply to be more clear. I was referring to the extension harnesses. I used OEM sensors. I did FCP Euro for the warranty but maybe I should have just saved $40 be gotten them from the dealer if they won't leak.

I received my replacement 3 wire cam position sensor harness extension and plugged it in yesterday. I did errands on and off yesterday and there is no CEL. I haven't scanned for pending codes but this is looking good. I have no idea what's "bad" about the original one (of the four) but the new one seems to have fixed the issue. I arranged this with ZZP via eBay messages.

Just got these wiring harness pigtails in today - they are the exact same thing as what ZZ sells. Calling it right now, these are probably made by a Chinese 3rd party and not either of the two sellers on eBay.

Are these the magnet sensors, or the cps sensors? Do you have a link?

Magnets are two wire and narrow
cps are three wire and wider

This is a pigtail set for both magnet and solenoid.

Do they not just do a solenoid set? I have the magnet set already.

So one thought I have had. the reason the capillary oil wicking action occurs is partly because the wires are stranded... which you obviously want in a car for flexibility and technically a smaller wire can handle a larger amp load with less resistance. Couldn't the extension harnesses be made out of solid wire for the short run, which would lessen the wicking action?

wouldn't it still wick between the wire core and the sheathing?

a drop of solder at the beginning and end of the wire would accomplish the same thing you're thinking of
