TCU or ECU tune?

I am in the UK with a 2015 W212 E63. I love the car but the gearbox doesn't do what I want for normal fast driving. If I am pushing it 100% then it is great and if I am driving my mother around, it is also great but in between, it holds gears too long after a quick acceleration up to highway speeds and this annoys me.

MSL offer a TCU tune for £500 and a stage 1 remap for £600 with dyno print out. Has anyone here had one or the other or both? It would be nice to hear a review of some sort.

what drive mode are you speaking of? Need more details, comfort, sport, sport+? Comfort will quickly upshift to keep mom happy. Sport modes will hold gears longer (as if you're on a track) and it's adapted to your driving.

when is the last time you reset the TCU?

a tcu tune and an ecu tune won't resolve your issues, as you've stated them.

All modes, worse in sports mode but I kind of expect that. I just want it to upshift when I've backed right off the throttle and a TCU tune sounds ideal.

I've tried the reset, not much difference.

and then after the reset you've driven mildly for about 100 miles so it upshift more frequently and learned that pattern or ... reset tcu and drove it like you stole it?

let us know if the tcu tune resolves this issue, perhaps your tuner told you it'll resolve it. I'll await your feedback when it's done.

you should be able to use the paddle shifters if it's in a low gear longer than you want after WOT runs - 2 blips on the right paddle, and it should go to 7th gear

I find that manual gear changes when in one of the auto modes are painfully slow. I think I was spoilt with the ZF 8 speed in my previous car as that thing was phenomenal and could be tweaked with my phone in 60 seconds.
