A lot of time I'm running into stop and go traffic on the way home. So oil and water temps run super high, main cooling fan is spinning as I pull into the garage. I can't imagine, leaving the hood closed after that. I can hear the little coolant pump run for a while, also the headlight fans chime in sometimes.

This might sound weird but does constantly opening and closing the hood cause damage (like vibration damage, I understand the road will cause way more vibration but am I the only one worried about the loud bang when closing the hood causing damage?), how do you guys prefer to close the hood, close it till a few inch and drop it or pull it down and then push it close (does that bend the hood)? Sorry I am just a worry bug.

I’ve noticed that if I don’t slam the hood with force, the open hood warning comes on the screen.

My biggest worry is wearing out the cable till it breaks from the daily use. If it’s anything like a BMW setup, pretty much SOL.

Thanks for your comment OP, guess I wasn't alone worrying about these things. Do you drop the hood a few inches from closing or just slam it when it is in the fully opened position?

Slam it when it’s about a foot or two above the latch. The latching mechanism looks to be pretty robust. I’m not worried about slamming it hard because after I started seeing the warning, a thread on this site talked about it needs to be slammed hard in order to not get that warning. Haven’t had any issues since.
