RIGHT after set one? Given how much stuff is taken apart during that job, if it was right after or shortly after, I'd be going after anything related to dropping the subframe etc.

I would like to think the mechanics are better than that - for real Mercedes Master Mechanic (other guy there is a Porsche Mechanic)....the place is a freaking car show of race cars and what not....mostly Porsche's with full roll cages.....

That said, they have had the car time and again...this week we are going to put it in the air and spin all four again...

So - we got the car into the air....

We are back to thinking it is something with the two piece Brembo rotors...the Aluminum in the center moving as compared to the steel outer ring...odd indeed.

I can hear intermittent clicking in the first video, but nothing in the second. In your first post, you said the noise existed before the brakes rotors and pads were replaced. Did you replace them with the same parts, but new?

With weight on the car it is LOUD. In the air, not as loud but there - the focus of the sound is on the Aluminum hat of the two piece rotor...so, order went in this AM to FCP for new rotors and pads. The nice thing, I am not sure but I think that they rotors will fall under the FCP warranty assuming the clicking goes away with the install of the new rotors....

The whole thing is odd.

So, are those rotors stock on the AMG version? Are the stock rotors cross-drilled AND slotted? (I've always found slotted rotors to be noisy, but not like this.)

Same exact Brembo as I have on order....two piece. The MB ones cost less...but, I understand also do not perform as well.

FCP is pretty good about their warranty, fingers crossed for you!

Yes, I have heard stories (rumors) that people "Warranty" their "worn out" oil every 5k/mi...not sure how much I buy into that as everyone on earth would be doing it....but, to me I can not warranty the rotors until the new ones are installed and the click is or is not gone.....

FCP is pretty transparent about that being ok, it's not an unspoken thing by any means. I've done one or two oil change refunds with them but the cost difference when you factor in shipping (which for me is WA to CT, not cheap on a box w/ 9 liters of oil) and the time to collect the oil and package well etc it makes it not worth it. I've only sent it in with other things (i.e. cam magnets and position sensors, or spark plugs, brake pads - all covered 100%).

Yep, I did my tranny fluid and plan to do my motor oil on my next change. It's not as expensive to ship as you would think.

I had a set of brembo rotors warp on me in under 10k miles, unfortunately fcp lifetime warranty does not apply to price increases so when I purchased them back in the day they used to be 363 a piece, now well over 600 each so I had to cough up the diffrence.

@OldManAndHisCar , I am curious, have you found the brembo modular brakes and EBC pads to be worth the money?

Interesting. There is a difference between warrantying for defective parts and worn out parts. Was there a manufacturer's warranty on the rotors? You probably exceeded it anyway. In which case, getting $363 covered is better than $0.

It does appear that you have some uneven tire wear and have picked up a stone or nail. Has the car been aligned recently? Since the rotors are not weight-bearing, there must be some minimal drag on the brakes. Have the rims been damaged at all?

That particular rim has been welded due to a crack - but, the clicking is on both sides and the weld looks to be quite well done...

The wear is -not- off camber (or whatever the term is)...that is just that tire. My next-door neighbors own a chain of tire shops and suggested the Continental as when I got them there were no Pilots the correct size for the rears. The image does make it look wonky....but it is not. The car has been aligned twice since this all started...once after the CV's and once after the wheel bearings.

The other thing in the tire is not a nail...we have gone over the tires again and again.

New rotors will be here monday......

Not sure. The EBC's I have used for years...since the mid-1990's. The two piece I have had on my Porsche 911 Turbo S, a few 3000GT VR4's. E46 M3, S4, C32 and some others with no issues.....

So we finally got rid of the click!. Turns out the counterweight fingers whatever they are on the brake pads were all loose and they are what was causing the noise. I prove this by just putting a dab of Super Glue on each one and the clicking went away for a while until the Super Glue probably melted off. New pads will be here Monday

I'm having a hard time visualizing how the pads fit into the calipers. I've never seen that clicky thing on a brake pad before. Could you post a pic of the whole pad?

Never mind. I guess that's the same on all of the front pads for your car.

from what I understand those things should be absolutely Rock Solid mounted to the pad. Of the eight total six of them were some variation of loose
