WTB : 2011 E63 6.2 LITER
Hi All,
I am interested in purchasing a late model E63 with the naturally aspirated 6.3 AMG engine. I know the early versions of the M156 engine had head cylinder bolts issues and ALL years suffer from camshaft/tappet and fuel injector problems. Even with these known issues...I am still interested in purchasing one and would like to get some feedback from others on this forum that may have some insight/advice on this engine. I am mechanically capable and have owned/repaired other mercedes..s500 & s65.
Also...if anyone here is selling one...please contact me.
Thanks,
Rick

Rick,
Welcome to the forum. I have a 2011 E63 and it has been a great and really fun car. The items you mentioned are the known issues with that motor and since you can do your own work, you’ll easily be able to take care of it. I have owned mine for ~4 years now and I still get a big smile every time I drive it.
The rumble and sound of the NA 6.2 liter engine never gets old. I added wireless CarPlay to mine and it modernizes the vehicle. AMG parts are more expensive but you know what you’re signing up for.
Find one that has been maintained, with the updated head bolts and stay on top of the maintenance and enjoy driving it. There are a ton of enthusiasts in this forum willing to help and share stories/advice.
Good luck!
Peter
