From what I've seen it looks like just 20 inch wheels on the new E63 AMG. I live in a area with bumpy roads and it's bad enough with the 19 inch rims on my current 2012 E63 Amg wagon. I'd thought about ordering a new Wagon, but this has me thinking just keep on driving the one I have, it rides rough enough as it is over the all the bumps and cracks on these roads in Rhode Island. I almost like the styling better too on my 2012, it still looks brand new and only has 45K miles at this point. The new ones look to be a little bit smaller in the cargo area. I've not had one problem on my 2012 either, still have a couple years left on the extended warrantee.

2018 Cayenne Turbo
BMW X6M
The coupe like SUVs are like sedans with higher ride heights and more tire wall. The upcoming GLC63S has almost identical cabin dimensions to the E63S and it uses the same transmission and 4Matic+ system.

You're probably right. I have a Honda Crosstour in Florida, I should probably drive it in New England and the AMG in Florida where the roads are nice and smooth. I really get jolted around in the AMG and have bent a few rims and blown out a few sidewalls over the years. The thought of getting a new one and spending all that money and subjecting it to this is not a good one.

Get the E63S for Florida, and get something more suitable for New York like a Porsche Macan or the new Mercedes GLC63.

One thing to keep in mind is unlike the outgoing w212, the w213 will have air suspension on all 4 corners so in comfort mode it may actually ride pretty well.

Given the possible reliability issues with airmatic system, having it on 4 corners instead of 2 corners means doubling the headache. I guess MB is still being stubborn and refusing to join the MRC crowd.

What's MRC?

Sorry. MRC = magnetic ride control, by Delphi and seen in GM's, Audi R8, and Ferrari's.
Rims and tyres wouldn't be saved by any suspension system. A larger side wall is the key for bad road condition. At the same time, performance vs diameter is sub-optimal when it is anything bigger than an 18". 16"-17" are probably the best IMO. Anything larger than 18" is most for cosmetic reason only.

The 20" in the W213 will not be very much different in sidewall height compared to the 19" in the W212.
265/35/20 vs 255/35/19 <-----more sidewall on the W213 (92.75mm vs 89.25mm)
295/30/20 vs 285/30/19 <-----more sidewall on the W213 (88.5mm vs 85.5mm)
So despite the bigger diameter wheels on the W213 E63s, the tire sidewalls are actually taller (by a small margin) compared to the W212

Good observation, kponti! Indeed, the bigger side walls will definitely help. Of course, the performance will still get hindered by the addition weight of increased diameter.

Aren't the 20" amg wheels forged? I doubt they will add much if any right over w212 19s

Excellent post Kponti, I'm glad to know this is the case. Plus wouldn't the forged wheels be stronger than those on my 2012? They seem to bend fairly easily but I have found by keeping the tire pressure over 40Psi seems to help, I use to keep the tires at 35Psi thinking that lower would give a better ride. I think with it that low over sharp bumps the tire bottoms out and cracks the tire and tweaks the rim. I'm running 44 psi now and the proof that it works was a couple nights ago they are doing road work down the road from where I live and have the top layer of pavement cut out so theres a sharp bump. I hit it going about 40 mph not noticing the tiny bump sign right next to it and it made a hell of a noise, but at least the head restraints did not deploy which is a good sign and looking at the rims and tires there is no apparent damage, fairly new tires on the car. Scary though, I hope it does not vibrate when I get the car up to highway speed, still have not done that since, I hope it's ok because it was riding so smooth and vibration free, the last guy who repaired the rims did a good job. Anyhow, I think I'm going to meet with the MB dealer and take a look at the E400 Wagon maybe tomorrow to see how the interiors look and feel and look at some of the different colors and maybe if I like everything and they can offer at least 5 percent off MSRP on a new E63 AMG wagon pull the trigger and order one. I'm thinking the Piedmont Green with the Tan Nappa Leather interior, Premium 3 package. I figure that'll probably be a sticker of maybe 115 grand, less 5 percent, around 109,000 and hope they can give at least 45K for my 2012 with 50K miles on it, maybe I'm dreaming, but that would still be my car plus 64 grand which is a lot of cash, but one life to live. Do these numbers make sense anybody? I really do want the Distronic and as far as I know if it's like the E400 wagons, the premium 3 package which is a 12 grand package is the only way to get it.
