Well, I'm out.

Well, I'm out.
I've just become turned off of the car and the situation. I know the value of my 2014 will be in the pits on trade but it is still a great car and DD for me. Been issue-free and drives as well as it did on delivery day.
Going to get the extended warranty and stay in it this winter at least.
I wanted the new car to rip around in this summer, it didn't happen and I'm not keen on a car that has sat for that long and now has new software hastily patched together to get the cars through certification, & to take the hit on my trade while going through all that for such an expensive car to only have it for a little bit before winter isn't sitting well with me.
I have a good spec built, selenite magno over black, loaded car. if anyone wants it (it's coming to Calgary) let me know and I'll put you in touch with my dealer.

I agree. I got tired of waiting too and just order something else (I pick it up on the 15 of this month). It just seemed to be one big screw up and I agree I don't want to be involved with something that may or may not have initial problems. In other words, I got impatient. So I'll wait and maybe look for one this time next year, if they have been released yet!
Now I just need to tell my dealer to tear up the check that was a down payment.
Good luck to those others though and I'll be watching to see what happens.

I also have to say that I chickened out on the price and wasn't a fan of the (wired) technology. Plus I found something for about $35k less with great performance and technology too.

'18 M550i. We pick it up next week at the Spartanburg Performance Center. I really wanted the E43 but after testing 3, it was a huge disappointment. So we decided to go ahead and do it and buy an E63. Well while we waited and waited, we started looking for a weekend car. M4 convertible (MB doesn't make a hard top convertible with a back seat) and while looking we saw a M550i. So after 8 MBs (not overly happy with the tech and brakes in my current GLE400), tired of waiting, disappointed with the E43 (too little car for too much price), and a better price with the M550i, we ordered it.
Sorry if I hi jacked the thread.

Without going into a lot of details (there are other threads talking specifically about it), but we, my wife and I both thought the same on this, it is too little of a car for the amount of money. And by little I mean, small unmpressive performance for the amount of $$$ that MB was asking.

Re: BMW 550i engine -> n63tu. Question will be if it remains reliable ... its n63 predecessor engine was atrocious

This may be true, but I'm sure my wife will be done with it before the warranty even runs out, if not sooner. If it goes anything like the buying process we have been through, I bet we will be out of it even sooner.

The M550 blows the E43 away.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
Ya know, people were talking about different options as far as cars go. I traded in my 2012 212 AMG wagon for a 2015 S550 4 dr executive lease car, best thing I ever did, the car is so comfortable and really surprised me performance wise, it goes like hell in sport mode and in sport suspension mode actually handles nearly as good as my AMG did, I'm sure if it had Michelin SS tires on it it would even handle better, right now it's got touring bridgestones on it A/S tires. For a nearly 5000 lb car it amazes me. My 2012 Amg for this 2015 S550 with 30K miles on it was one of the better trades I've ever done. If I were to do a Tune on the S550 and put performance mufflers on it I think I'd be every bit as happy with it as I was with my AMG. Don't think I'm gonna do this things as this is really a luxury liner and I want to keep it that way plus I'll be getting the 2018 AMG Wagon real soon, or at least I hope.

So even though the 43 is too expensive and down bigtime on power they still picked it over the 550. HMM, makes sense to me. The 550 is boring, reminds me of a W212 14'-16' E63, fast and fun in a straight line, but ugly exterior, bland outdated interior, just plain boring in general.
