why the heck are these things only being released on the east coast!
Friday afternoon I hopped in the car to go to the local MB dealer to look at the new E63S sedan they have, and to my surprise what did I see on my local road? Edition 1 in the flesh and much better looking than the pics online can possible convey. 1 of 185 in the world... right there.

Wow fill us in when you get it. This is a bummer overall. What I hate even more then waiting was thinking the wait was over. Lol.

Interesting. I just completed my purchase tonight for the ED in a week and a half and there was no mention of any problems.

Sorry, should have been more clear, not for an Edition 1 but for a normal E63S through the European Delivery program or ED or EDP.
Car has completed production and is waiting for me in Germany. I pick it up in a week and a half.

A lot of our used cars were affected.. stop sale on the 4 new and the several used ones... I HIGHLY doubt this has any affect on the west coast delays on E63's

That recall doesnt affect the E63's afaik.... delays were port certifications... I have about 120 plus new cars in-stock, only 4 were affected.. two older 18 CLa's, a C class and a c63... none of my E classes (as far as I know)

Well you are not out here and I have bought 5 AMG's from this AutoNation store and my relationship with the GM goes back 10 years plus so I highly doubt he made it up. He can not sell the black car in his showroom floor and all his cars are held at the VPC. The ED1 is stuck and so is a white one I like. The ED1 for MBZ Laguna is held up and the white one on the floor cant be sold. So what is it then??
All the E63's on the east coast are going (I got all 5 of mine from port and seems most others have)... I just assumed Cali and west coast may have a harder time getting EPA certified (diff than east coast).. maybe I'm wrong. Didn't mean to offend you in any way.

I don't know.. maybe its diff on the east coast. None of my E classes are affected by the stop sale (which again only affected 4 of my new cars, but 27 of my used cars), none of my E300's, 400 coupes, cabs or 43/63AMG's... (i went through all my vins)... so far anyhow lol...who knows, I could get an email later today with more vins.

Oh no offense taken, text has no tone, thanks for your input. I can not seem to fathom why the East Coast would have different barriers via the EPA than the west. My latest dialogue with the store was that additional software needs to be installed. I have another email request in but to this date I have not heard of one West Coast ED1 delivery. Even the mighty Fletcher Jones has not sold one but Tony will know more there as I think thats where his car is coming from.
and I’ve seen a few of these running around LA. I also found a few for sale that are available and the dealers have still been hounding me all week for my past inquiries to come get the cars they have. Very weird.

The black one I test drove was for sale but now it can not be sold at my perspective dealer.

Could be state regulated? What about other west coast states?

Maybe, but it is still a CA purchase and will end up there - hopefully in about two months. After we drop off the car it will be delivered to susman at eurogermantown and I'll fly out to the east coast and drive it home. I'm headed to DC next week for a quick trip before me and the family head to Germany. Pretty likely that I can combine the flight East to pick up the car with a business trip, but if not, I have a bazillion miles so either way, no cost to me.
Not trying to skirt any CA port of entry issues, but rather just saving a few weeks of the car bobbing around the ocean and meandering from port to port till it makes its way to Long Beach.

For sure west coast edition 1s aren’t moving. I have two editon 1s reserved at different dealers (One who didn’t take a deposit) and One is in CA FLETCHER and the other is in Scottsdale. Obviously same port and neither of them have updated since the Oct 6 VPC ready date that still sits there for both cars. I haven’t shunned and complained about a loaner but I’m getting there. Not sure if they will do that. Others have seemed to have loaners for months now.
