Just picked up my first Merc, a new 2018 E63S. The only option it didn't have that I wanted was the Performance Exhaust. Can the MB Performance Exhaust be installed DIY?
If your car has the acoustic sound package I would not even bother, to be honest it really does not make that much of a difference from inside the car with the exhaust in the open position at least with the acoustic package. But yes it can be added, there are mufflers made with electronic solinoids that you could always add to the exhaust later.

I'm adding the Brabus exhaust on mine. It's not out yet but I have it on order. The Brabus exhaust has electronic valve as well and it is controlled therough the factory steering buttons. It also comes with (or at least you need to purchase it) a carbon fiber rear diffuser that fits really nicely and has a third LED brake light in the diffuser which is really nice. The reason you need to do the diffuser is because the Brabus exhaust comes with new tips that won't fit in the stock diffuser. You can probably keep the diffuser and use the stock tips with the Brabus exhaust but one of my favorite parts of the Brabus is the tips.
The exhaust is really expensive and most people will tell me that I'm an idiot for spending that on the exhaust but I really like the way it looks and sounds and I love the way that the valve is integrated into the cars can bus system and works through the factory controls on the steering wheel.

I'm sure it's probably possible just to change out the mufflers for something like Corsa's if you found a good exhaust shop. I had those on a Pontiac G8GT I had many years ago and they sounded real good
