E63 QUESTION
LOOKING TO GET INTO 2018 E63
WHAT BUILD DATE SHOULD I BE LOOKING FOR IN ORDER TO AVOID ALL THE ISSUES WITH EARLIER PRODUCED MODELS.

I don't think there are necessarily issues with early build E63s but the later ones do have software/menu option differences in various sections. I don't think there's an exact date established for when this happened but I'm guessing it was around September/October 2017 production. Just an approximate guess based on what I've seen.

My build was 10/10/17 and when I picked up the car in Sindelfigen the tech in Germany did mention that I got the updates. My recollection is that he also said something like "a few weeks ago" in addition to what he was saying but can't say for sure. If so, that would put it at late September-ish.

Currently, there are some sort of issues with the steel brakes ... not sure if it is technical or parts shortage in which many cars are being held back.
If you really want to avoid the bugs, then you may have to look into the 2nd or 3rd year of production in which most of the bugs would have been resolved. Who knows when the facelift will come out, it may be in the 4th yr of production (so, 2020 as MY2021)

Hopefully the ones produced already with the steel brakes will not have to be recalled or anything. I had to get on the brakes today pretty hard today and it seemed like it required quite a bit of brake pedal pressure and did not stop quite as good as I thought the car would and my car has the steel brakes.. Time will tell I guess.
