2018 E63s Personal Review and Experience
So I just want to start off by saying that what a car the E63s has been. In terms of what it can do and how well it does it, hats off to AMG and Mercedes. Initially I posted back that I was getting the car in Cardinal Red. That however fell through and ended up with a Black E63s with no night package. To be exact, I don't really mind the chrome trim around the car. It makes it look more luxurious. Got the black interior with the premium package 3. Standard seats and the cross spoke wheels. Funny enough, it didn't come with the upgraded performance exhaust but I'll get to that more in a bit later.
I have driven the car for slightly over 3000 miles since I took delivery of it back in early January. My opinion over how the car looks is just mind-blowing. I love the aggressive look, yet subtle to the point where it's not overly dramatic. Many people complement the car, and while it's not really that important, I figured I would point it out. The ride quality on a scale from 1-10 (10 being the softest) is like a 3. It's not unbearable by any means, however a lot of road imperfections are felt through the seat. Mine came with the PS4S tires and I think they are a much bigger improvement over the old Super Sports that I have on my C63s. The transmission in Comfort mode is a little too clunky in my opinion, but not terrible either. I don't mind it since when you put it in manual mode in both sport+ and race mode, it all makes up for it. In terms of driving dynamics, this doesn't feel like a sport car at all, but it is better to describe it as a really capable luxury sedan that honestly just has too much power. Not that I don't like the power but it's just amazing how fast something this heavy is able to get up to speed. The new 9 speed MCT is a great transmission, and a huge improvement over the old 7 speed MCT.
In terms of reliability, it has been alright. One major issue that happened as soon as we got the car, around 400 miles, it had an issue with the suspension. When you would turn the steering wheel all the way into one direction or another, it would make a crunching noise. It eventually made the car prompt that it wouldn't be able to go faster then a certain speed (I believe 60 or 80 mph). After that it was towed to service and it took about 2 weeks to get resolved. Another issue that happened was the check engine light. One of the times it showed, the drive modes were inoperable. The other time it just caused the car to shake a little. Both were fixed by just turning the car off and back on, but it was taken to service regardless. Ever since, that has never happened again.
Finally, since I know some people want to know, I did not order the car without the performance exhaust. The car was an order the dealer got, and since I was a little impatient, we decided to go with this one. In comfort and sport mode, it's a pretty normal sounding car. It sounds just like the performance exhaust when the flaps are closed. However, in Sport+ and Race mode, it sounds louder then even my C63s with the performance exhaust. There is no doubt that probably with the upgraded exhaust, the car would sound better, but honestly what you get without it isn't that bad. I do plan to get a different exhaust sometime in the near future.
Overall, I love the car, and plan to keep it for as long as possible. For a short while the 4 door gt 63s was considered, but I just can't seem to value the extra cost of trading it in worth it. If anyone has any other questions let me know.
Edit: One other note, I am only in college, and no I did not win the lottery either. My parents are able to afford what we have, so I give my thanks to them for giving me the opportunity to drive the cars we have. I'm not trying to show off, just want to share my experience to everyone who is a fan of AMG and these cars!

At least he's humble!
nice whip
im glad I got what I got in life after I earned every cent for it ... made me appreciate it more. I have no jealousy for dudes like this; they'll get handed things all their life and power to them, he seems respectful.

No thank you for the words. The reality is that I would never ever be able to afford these cars at this current point in time. So there's no point in bragging about it. What I said in my review was just my honest objective thoughts regarding the car. I respect everyone for what they have and can afford, because I know there are things I want that others have but can't obtain. And I respect that because it's best to be happy for what you have and what others can have. You get farther in life by wanting others to succeed.

I have been leasing new MBs for over 10s, gone through 7 so far. It always pisses me off how many issues there usually are on a new car.
currently debating e63s or M5.
i wich I could get a car that doesnt have initial issues.

I've already had mine in the shop for 3.5 days in the first month for a rear-diff actuator replacement. I'm fairly certain I've got tranny issues, too, combined with a sluggish response to a mashed-pedal (going from nothing to WOT)--the latter could be tune-related, though, but the former was there before the tune. Sigh...
Even so, I still love the car. She even has a name (which, combined with assigning a gender, is often a sign of a creepy over-attachment to an inanimate object)... creepy Dean it is then.

exterior color
@Walter Chaves, is that standard black paint or Obsidian black?
and by the way, you gave it a 3 for comfort but that seems kind of a harsh ride but you say it is not unbearable. 3 seems rather low and unbearable for this segment...
but most reviews have in common on the cons side for this car is the sub-par comfort ride level.
Thanks!

Nice looking car. I like the black with the regular trim better than the black with the night package. Everyone has different tastes. Good review and best of luck with the car. Your parents must be great people to want the best for you, just make sure to keep working towards your own goals in life and make them proud of you. I was paralyzed when I was 23 and coulda laid back and collected disability but instead continued on with College, got my engineering degree and finally ended up with my own business in the Automotive field for 20 years. It was all very rewarding and I never regret all the experiences I had doing the things I did. I'm sure you will do just fine. I think I'm really replaying my life a lot lately, in a couple weeks I'll be 60 years old, where did the time go? I'm a old man

Thanks for the info. I have a C63s coupe on order for European delivery next month and I have really anguished over cancelling it for an E63s.
Were you still in high school when you had your C63s? I got my first MBZ in high school but it was a runner that cost me $75.

So it's the regular black. And realistically after driving it more, and rethinking what I had posted, its more in line with a 5 in terms of comfortability. Highway driving is for sure the best, but the moment you get into a regular street road with many bumps and whatnot, it does become somewhat stiff.

No, that car came along my first year of college. It was my first take on a true AMG
