Potential E63 Buyer - Help

At a crossroads... previously had a C63 S and LOVED it but really wish it had the traction of AWD to take advantage of the power.

Got impulsive and traded it in for a 2018 G550. Obviously a much different vehicle but I live downtown and it's nice to be up high and drive over things.

However, I saw the new E63 S at the dealership and was very impressed. I have a lot of fun in my G wagon but definitely miss the performance and driving dynamics of a super sedan.

If I trade in the G, I can probably put about $5k down and finance for $2k/mo which is about what I'm paying now for the G.

Do you guys LOVE your E63 S? Is there anything you're disappointed with?

2018 E63S
Yes, I love my E63S, it is absolutely amazing to drive, soooooooooooo much power and pull. My daily driver is a 2016 C450, which is a 362-hp V6 faux AMG. The E63S is a very different beast on so many levels.
  • Responsiveness and Power - No comparison, the E63S is untamed. The C450 is very nice to drive but it lacks the sheer, unadulterated power of the E63S, it's night and day. If you're at 60 on the freeway in the E63S, getting to 90 takes only a tap of the pedal, so effortless. Very, very, very fast. The acceleration will throw you back in your seat, the C450 cannot do that, and I've tried.
  • Cockpit - My E63 has the P03 Premium Pkg with nut brown leather, ventilated seats, the dual-screen dashboard, etc. I am very comfortable driving (I'm 5'11"/200lbs, plenty of room). I love sitting in the car, she feels wider than my C450 yet eerily more responsive. Cockpit build is superb, no rattles or squeaks, and highway driving at 70 is quiet and pleasant. My C450 on the other hand has its share of rattles that drive me insane, especially the retracting roof, which rattles badly when it's been heated in the sun. It's a lease and going back soon but I think the E63 build quality is superior. Maybe it's b/c the E63 was made in Germany and the C450 in Alabama. Don't know.
  • Looks - There are noticeable differences between the E63 and the C450 but they aren't apparent, I don't think, to casual observers. The lip on the trunk is more pronounced and angled on the E63, it has the biturbo badges on the front, the grill is different. But I really wish MB would've done a better job at making the E63 standout a bit. The vertical grill in the AMG GT would've been a nice touch, for example.
  • Transmission - The C450 has a 7-speed tranny, the E63 has a 9-speed. The E63's transmission is much smoother. That said, in Comfort mode the E63 tends to hold on to lower gears a bit longer than I'd like. But I only have 1,600 mi on the odo, perhaps it's still learnin
I got my E63 in December, love it to death, driving it never loses its appeal. I can't really think of any disappointments at all.

2018 E63S
I've had mine for almost a month. Yes, I love it. I was worried about it being too stiff of a ride after reading everything here and yes it is a stiff ride but if you are used to sport cars then it is just fine. That being said, you need to drive it and see if it is too stiff for you and where you will drive it mostly. It will be pretty jarring coming from a G550. If I go to rough parts of Philly with tight parking or need to valet somewhere tight I normally take my SUV and that is mostly to protect the new ride not that it couldn't be a do everything car.

Good luck!

2017 AMG C63s sedan
same!!!! thinking of trading 2017 c63s sedan for a E63s sedan

I am in the same boat.

I currently have a 2017 C63s sedan. I love it. But was wondering of getting the AWD E63s sedan.

Not sure if it is worth trading up..

The more i research the new E63s i seem to understand that there are some issues in some cars? I think Joe Knows Best on YouTube mentioned that some E63s had transmission problems..

I have also ready a thread on MB World that some batches of cars had issues?

One guy mentioned on here that the E63s that he ordered had a lot of issues and that MB took his car back and ordered him a new one or something... I am trying to find all i can out before i loose money and trade up to an E63s...

Are the 2019 models that people are ordering better than the 2018 models?

I have seen some new E63s at dealerships across US on cars.com, they are all 2018 models, how can i be sure that these cars have no issues? Do i have to check the build date on them?

Is it still possible to order an Edition 1 or find a new one at a dealership in US?

Am i better off waiting for the 2019 models, thinking that the newer model will have more of the "problems" worked out on them?
