So do I, just was quite a contrast to the M5 and I didn’t expect it to be quite as physical.

I would stay away from calling the M5 a better car because many of the quoted features (quiet, comfortable ride, better tech, etc.) aren't what I am interested in or AMG was interested of creating. The M5 has multiple characters (sporty if needed, otherwise behaves like a regular 5 series) very subtle exterior design/sound. It's a discrete sports sedan and clearly the more practical car and financially a better deal but I like the E because it is the opposite. The E isn't dual personality; it's not discreet or subtle, it's loud and the engine eager to run. I like it that way. After all, few of these are residing in one car households...

I honestly think the M5 is a better all round car, nicer for passengers and more comfortable but definitely doesn’t have as much character as the E63.

ok so basically the M5 is just a more comfortable ride.

So for comfort the M5 wins this. Aside from this it seems there isnt much else separating the two, but personally i would take having more chracter over a little more comfort in a car of this type

M5 wins on more comfy ride (based on my test drive this past weekend). Other than that, I would not even think of spending $125K+ on a car that has the same engine as the last gen. (with power tweaked and add 4wd and then called it the day as :"New generation").

E63 wins on engine and exhaust ... in my book.

I think that’s about right, it’s comfort v character, looks and boot space! Well, a small bit in favour of the M5 is the tech which is much more intuitive but not a real factor.

Yep, actually that really is it, it’s just the comfort factor that annoyed me.

Actually, I think a big factor was the Sports seats which I did not enjoy. They were definetely designed right and I know why they are the way they are, but if I order, I’m going to go for the softer seats. The last E63 I drove before this one had them and it was much more comfortable.
