No. The video posted above is definitely not emotion start. I have a 2020 E63s with emotion start, and the only difference is that when holding down one of the shift paddles the car will open up the exhaust vales temporarily and rev slightly higher. I believe it's 400rpm higher. OPs car revs up to 4k which is not normal.

too much fuel at start up could do this; maybe a leaking injector or too much pressure from the fuel pump.

It's most likely a leaking injector. Too much fuel at startup. I would just take it to the dealer. Mine has not done it since the bad injector was replaced.

I don’t get it at the start but I’m noticing more and more that when I pull out of a junction or move away from lights, quite often the revs suddenly shoot up and stick around the 3-4,000 when I’m literally doing about 5-10 miles an hour for way too long like 45 secs long. Does anyone know why this is? The dealership said it was normal as the car is expecting me to put my foot down but it’s in comfort mode, sometimes in a shopping mall car park, hardly going to put my foot down!!

Your dealer is smoking some interesting stuff...sadly they are just trying to get you to go away cuz they don't want to spend the time to diagnose the issue. Stay after them to fix it for you...

Had same problem few months ago. My dealer couldn't replicate the high rev start up. Told them to check the fuel injector based upon others having the same problem. They found a slow fuel leak with one of the injectors and decided to replaced it. Been trouble free for the past couple months.

With increasing regularity, the car will rev to ab>auto clicker word unscrambler jumble solver 4,500 RPM on startup without me touching the gas pedal (see attached videos). Has anyone else had this issue? The car already spent a few days at the dealer trying to re-create the issue with no luck. Car has not stored any codes or thrown a CEL. Has anyone else had this happen to their car?

Yes, as posted earlier, it's a fuel injector issue. Dealership will likely not be able to recreate the rev up or see any codes; therefore, you need to instruct them to look at the injectors. Feel free to reference this forum of others having the exact same issue. Once they check in injectors, they will likely find a very slow fuel leak which causes a build up and at times cause the rough idle start with the engine over compensating and rev to 4500 to avoid a stall.

@bradlydas My car got lemoned before they could diagnose this issue. Looks like Foggy had this figured out.

Having the same issue on my 2019 E63s. If it were not for this thread not sure my dealer would have figured out the issue, so thank you! I was able to capture the problem on video, plus I sent my service advisor a link to this thread. Just dropped the car off today, will give you an update when I get the car back.

@Dr.VerSatchi Just an FYI, they never diagnosed the issue on my car. It got lemoned with the misfires before they even looked into this. Good luck....

That's unfortunate, but hopefully the info from this thread should lead the dealership to finding the problem. I've had issues with the engine staying in high revs (4-5K RPM) after I let go of the accelerator, it gets to the point that I have to manually down shift the car. Not sure if this is related to the start-up problem as well.

Bad Injector 2019 E63s

I have a 2019 E63s with 2500 miles. I started getting rough starts and the massive rev ups while starting. Thanks to this forum I was able to take the information I found here and point my dealer in the right direction. After some brief diagnostics they determined a loss of fuel pressure when the car was turned off. They determined a leak in injector 3 which they replaced. All has been well since. Thanks to all for the info

Just heard back from my dealer today, looks like I need 4 fuel injectors replaced (or maybe he meant fuel injector #4). I’m just glad I was able to identify the problem thanks to this forum! Can’t wait to get my baby back, I hate my loaner. Absence makes the heart grow fonder!

Hi guys I have a brand new 2021 g63 experiencing the same issue and my local dealer won’t even check the injectors to diagnose the issue. What dealerships have you all used so maybe I can contact them to see what I can do.

Bring evidence Take a video of your startups to the dealer. Thats what I did. They couldn't deny it. All the dealer has to do is measure fuel pressure If fuel pressure is dropping while the car is powered off you have a leaky injector or injectors. If your not getting the response you expect contact Mercedes customer care and complain.

I agree, definitely have to take a video. I also took print out of the relevant comments from this forum which detailed the exact issue. I knew my SA would deny any problems without proof (plenty of experience in the past with multiple MB dealerships). It took me almost 2 weeks to catch it on video...I was getting quite annoyed because the few times I forgot to record is when it happened.

Hi guys, I have exact the same problem with my C63s 2016 with 69.000 km.
Dealer could not duplicate the problem or find any error codes or CEL.

They did notice a little rough start but without an error code they could not claim warranty.
Dealer told me the only way to find out is to disassemble the injectors and have them tested.

But if the test shows that the injectors are good, then I have to pay the labor costs which is quite a lot..
Before I take the risk is there a way to found out if a injector is bad or leaking without disassembly?

Yes leaky injectors, was a relatively common issue I seen vehicles being lemon because of this leaking injector issue.

My 19 has done this a couple of times. While a local shop was installing my upgraded high pressure fuel pump they noticed that it did that as well. Long story short, they replaced the injectors on the drivers bank. They sent out the other injectors to be cleaned and sorted. Ever since they replaced the injectors it hasn't done it.

Are there updated/superseded part numbers by chance?

Fair enough, maybe we can try searching the oid part number on mbparts.mbusa.com and see if it shows a superseded version.

Do you have the old part numbers? I can't find them right now for some reason.
