Outdoor Car Cover

I am looking to purchase an outdoor car cover for my E63 wagon.
It seems that MB does not have a outdoor cover?
Can anyone recommend a third party cover?

Thank you for your help,

Bill

I would never put one of those on my car, its guaranteed to give you scratches/swirls in the painting.

You have to wash your car before putting a cover on it and no problems. I've used outdoor covers on my previous GT-R and STi - did not have any problem.

Even if you are washing it it's almost guaranteed to make scratches/swirls.. But hey, I see people say the paint is in perfect condition in cases where I will find swirls all over the car.. Guess it's up to the eye seeing it..

Totally disagree here.

If you're doing it in the proper way you won't get any single scratch or swirl, also, you have to buy not a cheap cover with at least 5 layers and exactly for your car, not a universal, for good protection which one doesn't let come under it water and dust. Also, an important thing to wash a car cover at least one time each month. This is the receipt for perfect paint with a car cover using.

I've used covers for 3.5 years and both my cars were in showroom condition. BTW both cars were not daily and 4-5 days per week were undercover.

My guess's it up to how people doing things. And yeah I'm the perfectionist and can't have a car with scratches or swirls.

Have a good day

car covers = friction

friction = swirls

California Car Cover has an excellent selection...I've used their products for years, although I never stored a car outdoors. I currently use the NOAH material cover on my matte paint and have had no issues in the last 3 years

FWIW, I had a custom cover made of Tyvek ( http://www.dupont.com/products-and-s...ns/covers.html ) years ago for my first V70R when I still lived in Brooklyn. The car was for weekend use only and was parked in a covered, but open-air garage. I always had the car washed when I parked it to reduce risk of abrasion, but even with a tight fit, wind would kick up dust inside the cover. I only parked there for about a year before we moved to the burbs, but I was very happy to be done with the cover and have my own garage. I didn't see any signs of abrasion, nor did the buyer of the car a couple years later. That said, if your car will be outside exposed to the elements, any weight like snow or wet leaves will amplify the risk of abrasion with the cover and the dust that invariably will get under the cover.

Good luck.

I plan to park it in a carport so it will have some protection.

I agree with the sentiment - proper car care + quality cover = no problems. I used a genuine Mercedes cover on my c230 many times and never a scratch. I detail my cars and am pretty **** about it. That's one of the reasons I bought and used the car cover - keep the car clean.

Yes, exactly. Drove it to the extreme: even used car cover in my garage. Just in case to keep it clean, not a daily driver... Good quality car cover will never scratch the paint.

People reporting issues maybe getting swirls from car wash?

Would NEVER dare take my car to a car wash that wasn’t Touchless; otherwise it’s a recipe for disaster, and begging for trouble (scratches, swirl marks, etc.).
