2018 E63S AMG
Could be different test methods, or possibly the use of the higher octane commonly available over there. I remember filling up a couple of times with 100 octane during my European Delivery vacation. I think the minimum I put in the car was 95 while over there.
Maybe if I could run 93 or better here in CA I wouldn't be seeing the dreaded CEL

gas prices are however much higher than in the US. like $2.75 per gallon VS $7.15 per gallon average for 95 RON

a good guidance:
https://www.globalpetrolprices.com/gasoline_prices/
for US i just used the official numbers:

No worries, wouldn't expect you to know about our local gas prices. Thanks to claimed higher transportation costs, plus the additional 20 cent/gal gas tax thanks to Gov Moonbeam Brown, San Diego has some of the highest gas prices in the nation.
Sadly, due to a very questionable and confusing ballet title, the proposition to overturn the gas tax failed to pass on last week's election. I suspect further action to come . . .
Anyway, the octane vs CEL hypothesis was just just that and sounds like folks running higher octanes are getting them too.

my email to mbusa yesterday:
”hello,
when will the 2019 AMG E63 be released? i am one of many customers who have ordered vehicles that have been built and shipped, and are now stuck at VPC indefinitely (some for as long as 2-3 months at this point).
i understand the need to take the vehicles through their necessary certification procedures, but what's incredibly frustrating is the lack of clear information and transparency from Mercedes-Benz, both on the corporate and dealership side. you don't treat customers like this -- many of whom, like myself, are repeat customers and brand loyalists -- and particularly not at this price-point. this lack of information and stringing along is actually driving many folks to cancel or abandon their orders, and jumping ship to BMW to purchase an M5. i don't want to make assumptions, but i am guessing that this is not part of your business strategy.
i (and many others) would really appreciate some concrete information on when i can expect to receive my vehicle.
sincerely”
i’ve already received two email responses and a phone call (which i couldn’t take since i was in meetings). the message they said they want my VIN and the dealer name (as if it’s the dealer’s fault). we’ll see what happens. at the very least, i’ll make them work a little extra for their money. 😄

I know it's frustrating, but I don't understand what you expect from the dealer or even MBUSA. The first post in this thread, 25 pages back, is the 2019 release schedule and it shows the E63 at the end of Q4. (If we interpret the three columns of Q4 as months, it's December.) There's a difference between not getting answers and getting an answer we don't like. As far as I can tell, that release schedule from August has been pretty accurate. And with this kind of planning, I doubt that the "holdup" has to do with fixing the CEL or any other problem. It just seems that MBUSA needs to phase the releases for logistical reasons and we drew the short straw.

"Where is the car I ordered in March? I thought you said it was going to be here by August? My car is going off lease and my wife would be really pissed at me if she didn't have a car to drive."
"Um, sorry sir, YOU didn't see the top-secret release schedule document that will be posted to some random Internet message board in two weeks? That will tell you that we are absolutely f'*n on-track and this is all planned; we are not incompetent."

Seriously? The super-secret release schedule internal document not shared with anyone and inappropriately posted to this thread by some kind SA at the end of August? You realize that most people ordered cars in the spring or earlier, right? Based on representations from dealers that we would have cars in August or early September. So purchase decisions were made. Leases expired. Etc. Some of us are even renting cars.

Obviously none of this is very important in the scheme of things. But it is annoying, and the lack of communication from MBUSA is pretty poor. And we have no idea why this internal release schedule was planned this way - obviously they could have known that there was some problem and so they put the E63 at the end of the schedule as a result. Who knows. I just know that this is the thread to complain about this and I'm enjoying doing so! Ha!

Family car is going off lease and if it’s not here before Christmas, this was all pointless and I’ll have no choice but to walk away. Stinks.

Anyone have more insight as to when the AMG E 63S estates will actually hitting dealers? December is coming up quick. ( after initial promises of Mid to late August)
