Not one of these aftermarket meth system retailers have done the testing to determine intake temperature for individual cylinders, it's just spray and pray....you don't toast your engine.
They haven't installed O2 sensors in each exhaust port or EGTs in each exhaust manifold runner to determine the correct AFR in their tuning..

Injecting alcohol does work for raising octane and cooling if that's your intention but cooling and fuel have to be equal for each cylinder if not you will kill your engine over time.

Back in the early 80's I developed a dual fuel setup for my Saab Turbo after learning about intake manifold design and taught myself about injector placement after engine failure teardown.

Our manifolds are not designed to flow fuel..

I designed a dual fuel setup for my Rs211 project and its everyday 36 psi. boost pressure. It was designed to enhance fuel octane not for charge air cooling.
My system was a completely independent alcohol fuel injection system with separate fuel injectors placed in each manifold runner to insure equal alcohol delivery. This included a alcohol fuel tank, regulator, injectors and fuel pumps..
The engine was on 91octane alone up to 20 psi. which produce 420 whp. As boost increased past 20 psi. the proper percentage of 91 octane was pulled and replaced with the proper percentage of alcohol giving the combined fuel a controlled rise in octane numbers from 91-104.
This eliminated any possibility of detonation in the cylinders at peak boost pressure of 36 psi. I tested the system at 42 psi. and it worked perfectly but I dialed it back to an everyday 36 psi.
I didn't think I needed more than 680 whp from a 1.8 ltr. engine in a 1,700 lb. car on the street.

Ya gotta do it right or don't do it at all...

The green fuel rail is for alcohol, the black gasoline rail sits lower and behind..

Now if you get a 96 octane specific tune, that's a different story.

I've decided not to gain that extra power with E85 this time. I used to have a 535i that ran E30 with Meth Injection. Was a beast, but as Murphy's law would have it, hard to find an E85 pump when the fuel light is showing.

I am on a waiting list to add a meth injection setup to my car though. But that comes with it's own headaches. Like the battery is inside the spare wheel well in the trunk, just where you'd normally place the meth tank. Not a good mix. LOL
Did you ever get the meth injection setup?

I did not. I'm actually looking to sell my E63 and get something different now. The older I get the more frequently I get the itch for something new.

I absolutely love my E63. The balance of looks, performance, handling, interior finish etc it's a great all round package.

I'm considering moving to a 2 car family where I have something like a Model 3 as a daily driver and an AMG GT 2 door as a fun weekend and occasional track car. Or I also have my eyes on the new AMG GT 4 door, love those in person. Or friends are trying to steer me towards a M5 competition although I've had a long series of BMW's and have kind of "moved on".

I've never put ethanol in any of my cars

Luckily I have quite a few non-ethanol stations in my area. Only ethanol gas in my cars are put in by the dealer at time of purchase. I run it down to fumes then it's non ethanol gas after that.

I take it you are of the belief that non-ethanol gas is better than ethanol-containing gas and would be curious to hear your thoughts as to why?

I only see Sunoco 90-octane ethanol free gas. Is that basically 93-octane, without the ethanol?

Xtreme-DI just wrote back to me with what we already knew: they are targeting a "bolt-on kit" of this product for the M177 https://www.morepowertuning.com/XDI-HPFP-60 (whatever that means)

How many labor hours would it take to upgrade the high pressure fuel pump on the car?

Part claims 3500psi. Wikipedia says M177 stock pump is:

Fuel delivery Electronically controlled direct petrol injection with spray-guided combustion, fully variable, fuel pressure 100–200 bar (1,500–2,900 psi)

If you need 30% more E85 than you do 93... That'd be 3,770PSI. Pump gets close. Might need to stick to an E40 blend maybe?

From Xtreme-DI:

we will need 1-2mths until the kit is completely ready. This will also include dyno results on E85. On Stock turbo it will be enough for sure. On bigger turbos you might need our 60-pumps and I am not sure about injectors at that point. same for labor time to put the kit on. I assume it will differ a lot between M177 and M178 for example.
