2013 GL550
Engine and Transmission Temps?

I noticed the cooling fan blowing loudly during my drive. Engine temp around 208-212 and transmission temp around 238-240.

Is this normal operating temp for this car? Was after a 50 mile drive in traffic—about 1.5 hour drive time.

Also, now that I think of it, after my 50 commutes, I have noticed some liquid under the car near the front. Very small / tiny puddle. Liquid has no smell. Viscosity like water. Clear. Is it just condensation of some sort?

No messages under Service menu. Coolant gauge is smack in the middle of the range.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

No, not normal man. You have an inter-cooler leak somewhere is a likely diagnosis. I was having high transmission temps as well for a bit, under easy easy driving....tech said I was missing half the fluid from the intercooler. Take it in to be looked at. Don't drive it too hard at those temps.

...even under very spirited driving, trans temp doesn't get over 190ish

Uh...can I even drive to the dealer...? It’s 50 miles away..

How long did the repair take for you?

Call your tech and ask them what to do...I'm not qualified to answer that, unfortunately. I did drive mine for a bit with no issues...just kept it easy and in comfort mode. Trans temps higher than that will break down the trans oil and you'll lose lubrication. At what temp that happens, I don't really know.

It was a quick one. I believe they added fluid and changed out a pump.

My guess is condensation from the air conditioning.. They wouldn't use water without coolant in any system in a car.

I’m at the dealer and they are checking the car for a leak. Was it the Auxiliary Cooling Pump you replaced? I found another thread where that was the issue for someone.

Oh, that sucks. Any idea how large it was? Wondering if the Zunsport guards would have done the trick.

I keep saying I'm going to get around to it, but I really need to either get off the dime and build a set or just go ahead and pick up a set of the Zunsports.

That's at least three punctures by my count.

Thanks. Anyone here have any luck getting MB to cover any part of this repair? Insane. I walked around the showroom and every car has some sort of protection, however flimsy.
