Should be in your handbook but it is a sign that you need to take it in to the dealership and have take a look at it.
And make sure you show them the pic and don't take no for an answer and neither have them fob you off...

I had that message once.
these cars need the oil changed in the rear diff @ 2000 miles and every 30K after that. (page 11 in your AMG supplement).

I would start with having that done. It isn't covered under warranty unless you have the extra maintenance. $280. I don't remember if an additional issue was found at the dealer (and am not home this weekend to check the service sheet) but I would definitely take it in. Mine hasn't lit up with that error since.

I'm more curious why your km/h speedometer is on left side of mph speedometer. Mine is on right side )))))

I got it too today, along with three others. ESP inop. Brake assist inop. Something else inop. I stopped and restarted the car and they were all gone. I'm not going to worry unless it happens often.

Your tune has nothing to do with this error. What tune are you using? Renntech? I have the Cobb unit for my 997.2 Turbo and it really made a big difference.
Here is the MB internal document code for this error: LI35.41-P-062294 it is a known issue. Hope this helps.

This was triggered by a low battery condition (sitting at port) in my car. After a few drive cycles and trickle charging the battery to full, it went away.

my car had 5500 miles on it and a fully charged system... I suspect that the diff probably wasn't even locking up under these circumstances.

I had the same set of errors recently on starting the car. Turned it off, counted to 5, restarted and it went away. Had planned to see if it occurred again before making a fuss, but if others are seeing it and it's a known issue, may as well get it fixed before my new tune goes in.

Seems to be a known issue but not a known fix. The procedure described above seems just to clear the error. In our cases, the error(s) cleared themselves on a restart.

My car will be due for the initial diff oil change soon. I'll ask about it then.

An inop error for the rear diff is a very different animal than brake, esp, and distronic inops…. I have gotten those too but as described will usually clear up when the car is restarted (rebooting the system) whereas the diff was not clearing up.

They all cleared for me, including the diff (which seemed to have caused the others). Perhaps there was a late firmware change to auto-clear the diff error. Not as good as a fix to prevent a spurious diff error, but helpful .

BTW, the diff error was the "scariest," suggesting I pull over and have the car towed.
