E63 Wagon Order
Have a June build on a wagon. Will be taking the family this summer to do my first European Delivery and am looking forward to spending a week touring Europe. Still have a few days to change my build but I'm pretty much set on color and options. However, I keep going back and forth on giving up my dinamica headliner and instead put the $ towards performance seats and/or HUD. Had Alcantara headliner on my previous RS7 and Cayenne Turbo and loved the look. Sat in both standard seats and performance....the performance seat look great and I found them surprisingly comfortable but don't like the cost and am afraid resale might be effected since it seems the standard seats are the safe bet for most folks. Won't be tracking the wagon so the added side support is not a big deal for me. With regards to HUD, it's on both my current cars (M3 and XC90) and it's convenient when navigating but otherwise, I find it useless especially when wearing sunglasses. Will not having HUD also effect resale? Here is my build:

Hello there. I bought one off the lot that had the alcantara like headliner and I think it makes the car interior feel very luxurious. I had built an Audi S7 with a ton of Audi Exclusive leather bits in my prior daily, and my one regret is not splurging the $3K Audi was asking for for the headliner. Here you’re getting for half the price so imo a fair value.
Personally i I don’t like the performance seats and would not have equipped them even for the same money. My car had the comfort seats with massage and I think they’re awesome.
finally the HUD, like the options above is also gonna be a personal preference. I personally like but if shopping for a used vehicle and found the right color combo and options, the HUD would not stop me from buying.
Hope this is helpful and and good luck.

Congrats and good luck!
FWIW, one of the cars I traded in was brand new X3 and I couldn't see the BMW HUD at ALL wearing polarized glasses, meaning 0%, but I can see the MB HUD I'd say 35%? or so - enough to see/be moderately useful. I really like the HUD. And headliner.
I LIKE performance seats (the other car I traded in was a Focus RS), but the massage seats are great, especially for my wife (in passenger seat), so if that might be a consideration in favor of comfort seats...

As far as the car options, I would keep the DINAMICA headliner for this kind of a car, as well as the HUD if for no other reason than resale value. That and if you do get it, you're lucky given the scarcity of supply.
Enjoy in good health.

I agree with most of the previous comments. I have a 2019 E63s wagon (Selenite Grey) and absolutely love it. Use it as a daily driver and for trips.
I also would not have taken the performance seats even if there was no charge. I got the massage seats which my wife absolutely loves (uses every time in the car, even for short trips) and I also enjoy. (deal breaker).
I also really like the Distronic Plus adaptive cruise. I use it around town in freeway stop and go traffic (works great) and on trips. (deal breaker)
I like the HUD and use it all the time (speed, speed limit, radio stations, NAV). It works fine with my NON polarizing sun glasses (not a deal breaker)
Congrats. You are getting a fabulous car.

I loved the look of the performance seats, but one time getting in and out and I knew it was not for me as a daily driver. Also, I have never had HUD before and absolutely love it. If I was shopping a used MB it would be high on the list. I always paid for prescription polarized lens on sunglasses but bought a new nonpolarized set just to keep in the car!

Skip the performance seats. Get the package with adaptive cruise because it comes with things like blind-spot detection that are standard on Civics and Rav-4s and when it comes time to resell someone will wonder why it isn't on a $110k+ car. HUD is a nice feature but I almost never see mine due to polarized sunglasses. Get the dinamica.
Also, is your June build a 2020? Performance exhaust is standard next year.

Agree that the adaptive cruise control is a cool feature. .I've used it on my wife's Volvo XC90 on a road trip but doubt it will get much use in the wagon since it won't be the primary car for long trips.

It's a late 2019 build. Yeah, I know about the exhaust being standard but I can't wait that long for a 2020....was able to get the dealer to discount further because of this. I thought it comes with the standard blind spot detection and the add on package actually has a more advanced blind spot detection that incorporates lane change which I definitely don't want....guess I need to read up a little more on it.

+1 on the Distronic features. They come in handy more than you might think. I mostly drive in town, but I activate the system any time I'm in stop/go traffic. Really makes it less of a chore.
But as many of these features are standard on my daughter's new Hyundai Kona for $25 k you'd think MB would just go a head and add them to a car of this class.

Hey! Congrats on the order! I also JUST ordered for European delivery but I checked with two dealers and both are telling me I have to wait for a 2020 MY. I ordered on April 15th.. Does anyone think that maybe both dealers are out of wagon allocations for 2019?
Also, @Foggy916 I got almost all the same options except I went with the Magno Grey.

Yes. If they can't give you a build date they don't have a car and allocations for 2019s stopped being assigned months ago.

I agree.. I actually rented one here in LA on Turo that had the sport seats - and took it on a 3 hour road trip - it was not comfortable to me for that amount of time. I also have a porsche 964 with sport seats and can take that on multi hour road trips with no issue. The sport seats do look damn good tho!

With regards to the order, I got one of the last 2019 slots about a month ago....think my dealership had to swap an existing allocation from another dealership to make it happen. My build is mid to late June with a July pick up at the factory....could be sooner since apparently the factor usually pushes the last of the MY out faster than normal. Was also told that 2020 builds would be ready about the November timeframe. I couldn't wait that long and needed to do my Europe trip during this summer with the family so decided to stick with a 2019.

Curious as to what % off MSRP you are paying? I'm still considering swapping my E450 wagon for E63.
On the options, I have them all. Headliner yes, Head Up don't bother.Frankly, I'd personally even not opt for the distronic if it weren't for the emergency stuff. I don't/won't use cruise or auto anything, and find the lane keep and such distracting for my assertive driving style.

8.5% (5% for ED) and no destination/delivery fee of $1K because of ED. Probably going to eat thru most of that discount with flying the family out to Germany this summer for ED...prices are pretty high in peak season. I also found locally a new 2018 Panamera 4S Sport Turismo for over 20% off and a used silver 2019 E63S wagon with 600 miles from Aston Martin in Dallas but they're asking $125K MSRP which is insane.

The ED has a discount for airfare - ~$200 with Delta IIRC.
5% for ED? When I was looking at a E450 the dealer quoted me 7% for ED plus the waiving of the $995 delivery charge. My understanding the ED discount was determined/covered by Mercedes direct and had nothing to do with the dealer. Is that wrong?
