badass set-up, ronin. would be fun to run up LAC with you some time... seeing as we now have almost identical twins (i got a selenite magno recently to replace the selenite metallic, which met a violent and untimely end).

Agreed WRT response time of the lights driving the canyons - or even up the road to my house at night. I typically manually pull the lever to hit the brights for a section of the drive because the high beams don't come on by themselves till I'm about through the section.
Also agree with ability to over drive the headlights, especially for those of us over a certain age with about half the light gathering response of younger drivers.
I do miss foot activated high beams. My 60 Chevy had one as did the first few cars I had.

Yeah I liked the floor mounted high beam switch more than the column arm,,
Here is the setup powered on..
First is low beams..
Second high beams..
Third high beams and LED light bar..
I see you Bambi..

i ain't knockin your upgrade & respect the reasons behind the addition but can you at least make it so you can take it off when you're not slithering through canyons? it pains me to imagine that thing riding atop your car 24x7x365...

Ronin, the Euro version of the intelligent lighting system doesn't simply dim high to low like the US version. The Euro version actually modifies the light pattern to keep the high beams up on the right side of the road while deleting the light in the direction of the oncoming traffic. Also does some neat things like dimming in the direction of some traffic signs to cut glare from reflections.
Supposedly, the US version of the intelligent LED lights is capable of doing the same thing but doesn't because of an archaic US law that needs updating. The US lights are a different part because of the required amber lens in the light.

I'm not saying the US headlights are the same as the Euro version, but from what I've seen, it does do most of what is claimed. I know it dims/lowers around cars in front of me, while maintaining distance to the right of them, as you say above. They steer, they provide lots of light to the side, I swear I see them dim around upcoming signs, but that's hard to prove. The US version physically has the LEDs that the Euro version talks about, which should make it possible. I'm happy with what I've seen of them (but of course can't compare them side-by-side with Euro versions).
