Anyone heard of any issues with the E53?

 

a few of them caught on fire.... just saying.... at least 2 articles here in mbworld and 1 on youtube....

Besides that hideous iPad glued on dashboard among 1 issue I have with the w213. And that soft rear end. My dealership is wanting my w212 MY2016 badly. Asking me to trade it in for the new E63S W213. Constantly decline their offers.

 

They want your W212 "badly" only because they want you to step into a newer vehicle. They make money on the trade and make more money on buying a new car...

 

You are hopeful. The GM my friend told me while my vehicle was getting Service B done few customers requested about it wanting it. Also I salesman from dealership. So they have it sold if I decided to give in. So yes they want it badly. I passed they wont be making any money on sales with that. Only service dept.

 

I get letters and e-mails too lol.... they keep pinging me on the '16 E550 Cab, I keep telling them my wife only drives V8's... which is true.... she say's this is her last car

In FL E550's sell fast. The E63S W212 also. In your area Bradenton, Sarasota, Ft.Myers even further down like Naples alot E550 coupes or sedans are owned and sold. Most are well cared for and senior owners with clean titles and used for corporate purposes.

 

agreed, I tried real hard to get a used one in '16 but could not find the right color combo's for the wife... Instead a got a new one in Ft Meyers in perfect spec, she was on vacay so went and traded in her lexus GS430 and surprised her when she got back Good Day for her !!

Although i shoulda just kept the lexus... 04, 156k miles not a one problem, they gave me $4k... woulda made a great track car!

 

The E550s I had were bought low miles 23k from west FL and both mint. Both fully loaded. When I flipped them after adding miles and fun I still made $1K on each. I would rather own a E550 again over any W213 E53,E63S.

As for the Lexus, should have kept that at $4K the value that car outweighed the payout.

 

Re: W212 E550, I would have to agree on that model. My late brother had a W212 AMG E55 and it was awesome. IMHO the best looking MB sedan in many years/series. Maybe better looking than my W213 - even with my ownership bias/rose tinted glasses.
As for the Lexus and their vaunted reliability, my 2008 LS 460 has needed more repairs, not maintenance, but stuff like a water pump last year, etc.... Its not like it is overused or anything (maybe even underutilized - if that's a thing) only having 27,000 miles on it. Several other niggling items
that I won't bore you with. Details upon request, as they say.

 

The W212 E63S/W212 E550 is unquestionably the best overall looking MB. It combines th classic tri interior with unbeatable performance. It's more aggressive looking to me than the W213. Not to mention sounds way better.
