Unique CCB issues

Not the the usual chip form hitting the rotor but there was literally a chunk missing in the middle of the rotor. This was somewhat alarming, given the damage, the low mileage (14k miles) and the price of the rotors.
Worked with the dealer and MB quickly agreed to cover the cost of the rotor and the associated labor. Cool

They replaced the rotor and I was back on my way but with a few miles I saw a light marking on the new rotor which made me question if they even bothered checking the pads for any residue to damage the pad surface.
So, back to the dealer to get new pads installed, just in case since the single rotor was a whopping $4500 installed.
At the same time we had all other rotors/pads checked. Low and behold, I got a call and yes, the other front rotor is also shot but worst. The damage wasn't visible as it was on the inside. Dealer insisted that pads were good either way.
So, I have to rule out the tech damaging the rotor by mistake but everyone is still puzzled as to what could have damaged them. Nobody has seen anything like this before and I haven't seen anything like this either. MBUSA wanted the rotors for further analysis.
We ended up paying for new pads but the $9k for the rotors + install was covered by MBUSA. Kudos for the dealer to work on our behalf given that brakes are considered consumables.

If you have CCB's on your E63s it may be worth a look and check them out. Here are some pics...
I am happy to hear you got it covered...hopefully it is related to what looks like a contaminant that was on your pads...and not a latent defect that effects many more rotors on the road.
