Do not make this mistake!
this just happen to my brand new E53 yesterday. I put a big bottle of water in the driver door bottle holder. I got out the car and shut the door and felt like something blocking the door.I did open the door immediately and saw the top of bottle cut the leather on the door panel ...so sad and mad in the same time.!

That's irritating. Hopefully a magic marker can hide it pretty well.

What is ironic is that it says it is a bottle of harmless coconut water.

Unlucky. I’ve been using this compartment for all different kinds of water bottles and never had an issue. I tend to usually have the bottle pointing the other direction, i.e. rear of the car.

You can match that yourself with leather paint kits but if the dealers guy is doing it ... all the better

i fixed only Knick myself for $14 and it came out great
