So it sounds like my brakes are squeaking, so i took it into the dealership, and of course they cant duplicate the sound. They did tell me that squeaking brakes are normal on this car though. Please tell me that squeaky brakes are not normal on a $ 75k car with 18k miles. Help!

BIg brakes always squeak. It happens on bmw, Porsche, Audi, etc. Need to bed them in with high speed stopping a few times. I do this step maybe couple of times a month... usually in parking lot or on open roads with no traffic at all
Interesting. My 2016 never squeaked once. The dealer said that it can happen some when the brakes are cold, but once they warm up, it will stop. Mine is the exact opposite. They don't start until I've been driving around for a bit, and it does not stop and they are quite loud. And it is when I'm coming to a smooth stop. If I hit them kind of hard, they don't squeak, but I don't want to slam on my brakes to stop each time. I'll try the slamming on them a few times like you mentioned, but that seems odd that you would have to do something like that to keep brakes from squeaking. Which Mercedes have you had that does this?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Currently 18 e63.
It also happened to my bmw m5, Porsche Macan . M5 was the absolute worst.
i also spray Sonax wheel cleaner on the rotors too to get rid of the iron particles on them. It does help for awhile, on top of periodic bedding of brakes

My CCBs don't squeak. Are your steel or CCB?
Going through a bedding in process as mentioned above will help. One problem some people have is that they don't use their brakes enough to get them good and hot and burn off accumulated resin and gunk.
My motorhome brakes were squealing and the chassis manufacturer suggested that because it's common for a lot of folks to use the exhaust brake regularly the main brakes don't get a good work out and resin accumulates. Described the bedding in procedure to me, which wasn't that different from what I have done on other vehicles and I gave it a go. Problem solved, plus braking performance went up noticeably.
On the E63 I regularly get the brakes warm then brake right up to lock up to keep in practice. Kind of similar to the drills that we did during the AMG Academy, but not as repetitive.

I’ve got one wheel/brake (steel) that has squeaked from almost day one under very light brake pressure. It has been changed, swapped, redone, blown out, washed, replaced whatever they could think of. I just finally gave up and just turn the music up or press the brake pedal a little harder.
Thanks for the replys. How do I know if they are ceramic? Would I just have to take the wheels off to look or is there some other giveaway ?

My 2018 wagon only squeaked after a HPDE weekend.
Porterfield R4S here on my wagon... they squeak too though I might need to do another rebedding process. They are a lot less brake dust though and it makes up for it.
I ordered Giro disc, rotors with their SS-1405 front pads and MP-2047 rear pads. Hope they perform better than the OEM.

my ccb (18 edition 1) squeaks a lot during the summer when the car is at low speed, esp stuck in heavy traffic. but as long as brake temp going up, the noise goes completely. is there anyone here as same as my situation?

My CCB's are starting to squeal at light pressure now that I have about 4K miles on my 2021 E63S wagon. The brakes have been totally silent until 2 weeks ago. Applying the brakes harder stops the noise. I've tried bedding the brakes with a series of hard applications which has minimized the noise and made it less frequent, but it's still happening a times. Suggestions?

I repeated the hard braking applications again this weekend and the noise has not repeated. I suppose that I didn't try enough additional hard brake applications the first time around.Originally Posted by HBerman
