And now many of us has reached for the right hand stalk to turn on windshield wiper?
Took a while to get that down.

2019 E53 Estate, cons, in sport or sport + mode, the RPM does not keep high like all other cars, maybe it's all about the 48v. Pop and crack sometimes does not work, no clue about this.
Overall, I like my E53, drives smooth, a great daily car.

Hi! I have an E53 coupe that I just got two months ago.
The Good:
- I got a coupe, which I think is beautiful and far better looking than the C63s coupe.
- EQ Boost gives you instant power, no waiting for turbos to spool up. 0-30 times are often sub 2s in conditions that are less than optimal in my experience.
- Exhaust sounds good, but naturally not as good as an E63s
- Price is a lot better (about the same as a C63s but less than E63s)
The Bad:
- EQ Boost is experimental tech. I’m already having serious issues with my car (I’m about to post a separate thread about it), where my car’s exhaust stops cracking and popping, and gauges show no turbo boost and power is cut to 200HP. CEL is also on. Dealer so far is unable to diagnose it (they blamed it on a blown fuse but there is no blown fuse this time), my code reader shows an overboost fault. - Technically, not an AMG but that’s nitpicking and I personally consider it a real AMG.
Not sure about wheel offsets, but car has 265/35 20’s in the front and 295/30 20’s in the rear.
Aside from this annoying defect they’re great cars!

Are you running OEM stock rims ?

Just got this E53 to replace my 2017 CLS 63 S Stage 1 that got totaled. And i will admit, i don't miss the power. This of course doesn't have the noise or raw torque of the V8 but it more than makes up in other areas, its a lot more daily drivable and civil best of all i don't have to pay rent at the gas station anymore, im rarely there!. I think its a very well balanced car , feels less front end heavy than my CLS. Interior is just light years ahead of what i had previously, exhaust sound is good but i wish it was a tad bit louder, might look into a resonator delete of some sort. Right now im on non run flat michelin winters and it drives smooth as hell, i have the run flat pirellis for summer and im probably going to buy michelins Pilot sport 4s and not bother mounting the Run flats, ive had my share of bent rims with my 335i.
Side note : I heard some horror stories about W213 build quality but man, this car is well built, no rattles and the doors feel super solid. My god damn CLS had so much rattle it drove me nuts.

2019 E53 Convertible, 2005 Ford GT, 2002 NSX
Nobody buys an AMG for fuel economy, I always get a laugh when people ask me what kind of gas mileage I get on my Ford GT, That being said, I can get about 27MPG cruising at 80 MPH in my 2019 E53 Convertible

I have just got the E53 AMG Convertible. There is no exhaust valve button so i am presuming it doesn’t have a performance exhaust. To me it sound way too quiet... if been all over the internment trying to find ways to improve the sound or replacement exhausts. What systems did you get and at what cost?

You might contact the dealer to see which part makes it go to the powerful mode. Install that and forget the consule switch.
My car is never out of exhaust powerful mode. May be a lot cheaper than buying a new exhaust system.

E 53 AMG Speedmaster transmission
I am 1 1/2 year in one my E53. Love all about the car - not the Transmission.. This transmission has no legs on it. Why in Sports mode at 30 miles an hour I'm in fifth or sixth gear?
You can't even tell if you manually downshift. Virtually no difference between comfort sport sport plus unless you are up at higher speeds
. I am driving in my "I" setting most of the time in town.
I always turn it on when I first start, keeping the RPMs between 3000 and 5000 RPM - exhaust sounds great- Breaking effects when downshifting, A lot more fun to drive.!!!
Nobody bought this car for gas mileage,!!
My "I" settings
Transmission. Sport (Tried Sport plus, too much burping for me)
Gearbox. Manual ( switch to auto on the highway, love the steering wheel switches)
Suspension. Comfort (Great for a 20" inch rims around town in flat Fl)
Exhaust Powerful
ESP On
I wish AMG would increase the shift points on the Sport and Sport plus for more range like what was on my C 63S & C 63 I previously owned.

So yours also didn’t come with the Valve open/close switch on the centre console?
what did they do with yours, programme it to keep the valves open always?
I thought that to have the open/close valve switch the exhaust was a performance upgrade exhaust rather than an OEM...?
I’m interested to know more about what they did with yours?

I ordered mine with the performance exhaust.
Check w MB to Change out your exhaust muffler to the one with the valve port and just leave it open. Don't worry about operating it on the console button.
I never turn mine off.
You not even need to change out the muffler if all they did was stick a valve in the plugged hole hole. The wiring harness already be there and at the switch, who knows.
Just a thought for an easy fix. Check w MB.
Every aftermarket exhaust system for the E53 I have seen online has been the whole system in the $4-5,000 range
. See attached pic, looks pretty simple.
Mine is never off I do not use the console .

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
If you got runflats,
They should have removed at delivery. Nothin but hard Ride and headaches. Junk.

I made it 9000 miles on OEM Pirelli run flats. Junk is right!
Switched to OEM Michelin Pilots non run flats. (bought TireJect Sealent to use incase of a flat)
Much quieter ride and better handling.

2018 E63s wagon (& lots of Subarus)
I got a 2020 E53 sedan as a loaner for 2 weeks when my E63 wagon was in for some warranty stuff
initially it does a good job at being close to the E63 in look and feel. The exhaust was actually much more pronounced than in the E63, and it honestly got kindof addicting listening to it pop and crackle in sport+ mode. And for cruising around curvy hilly roads, it drove pretty great.
1 thing I couldn’t stand though, was the throttle response just driving around stop signs and in the city. If you came to a roll-through stop like a right turn yield, but didn’t actually come to a complete stop, the throttle had no idea what to do. You’d press it and there was nothing (as in zero / dead)... for like a solid 2 seconds, then suddenly it would rocket away, way too harshly
also at one point I was driving in the snow and broke it free for a second and the car went BERSERK. The music playing suddenly turned to really loud static noise (I guess to make sure I was awake?!), and the seatbelts yanked tight. The static noise was legitimately terrifying though, I thought I broke something.

I think it is the luck of the draw, whatever they have the best deal on at the factory at the time of build - meeting the spec ofcourse.

OMG
When I took deliver on a New 2017 C63 S, MB send Dunlops. Beyond pissed!!!
Dealer refuse to issue any sort of credit to change tires. They didn't want them either. Installed Michelin Pilots after 1000 mines.
Last time I saw a Dunlop on a car was in college on a used 1964 MGB convertible with knot off wire rims.

PFL205.064 with M276.823 (Oil pump solenoid defeated)
The problems is cuz of the mild hybrid system right? The next gen C63 will have some sort hybrid technology as well. The E53 facelift already happened, I would expect them to sort it out soon.
