Winter tires setup

New E63S wagon owner here. Wondering what those of you in the northeast do for winter tires and/ or wheels. Don’t seem to be any tired that will fit available on Tirerack.

Pirelli Wintersoto Serie II will fit for heavy snow.

Bridgestone Potenza 980AS are all season and work well in light snow. Unless you are planning to use your wagon on unplowed roads, they will be fine.

I’ve 19” setup. Conti wintercontact 850p.

for aftermarket wheels, 19” is the min. Try to pick wheels that have as close as possible to factory width and offsets. Don’t pick wheels that have deep concave design as they may have issues clearing the front brake caliper

there are at least 5+ past threads created for this topic. You can do a search in this forum.

with higher sidewall and pillow soft winter rubber compounds... it rides like a dream 😉 (compared to factory 20 setup)

MB 19” wheels with Alpin PA4. Not sure it’s pillowy, but indeed a bit softer. I appreciate the performance of the tire for what seems like mostly milder winters now in New England, and still great for a ski trip here and there.

ebay from Germany gets a fair discount off MB prices. Still not tire rack prices. But these staggered setups with big difference in offsets aren’t cheap anywhere without some compromise in another way.
