2017 MB E43 transmission experiences
Hey guys! I bought a used 2017 Mercedes Benz E43 with 39k miles back in May. The car rocks! It’s got every option and has been running well. The car’s rear bumper had been replaced but the paint is original on every panel.
My only issue is the transmission. I might be paranoid because I bought an AMG with 40k miles but maybe not. The transmission shifts a little slow the first minute before the motor warns up. I’ve also noticed the trans hangs in high rpms longer than I would like. I know this the way it’s programmed but still. Lastly maybe once or twice I’ve felt the car shift kinda hard. I can’t find anything that reads these trannys are or bad. 99% of the time the car shifts perfect. I’m actually amazed at how well the car shifts gears. I am wondering if anyone has any input good or bad. Thank you..

I borrowed my sister’s 2018 glc43 today and I felt the tranny shifted kind of jerky (not smooth) on sport and sport plus after every traffic stop. But it shifts smooth on comfort mode with no hesitation at all.
i believe this is the nature of it for all 43 trim level in all models.

my e63s has a very sluggish transmission when first started and cold. i have never worried much about it, but feels like it is slipping or just has not build pressure yet. as soon as a drive a block, it all feels normal

Transmissions are commonly programmed to hold gears longer when cold started in order to warm up the catalytic converters for emissions. While I've never noticed it in the E53, it does in the '88 560SL also and that was way before electronic controls.
