Use a short USB drive in the console compartment. There are two slots that can be utilized.

Haha all good, I definitely wasn't trying to make you look stupid, just genuinely curious if you did get the options. I would call your sales guy and have him talk you through using the dash cam and storage. I think its all through the Mercedes Me app?

Only one USB slot in my console compartment adjacent to the 12v power socket.

No stress at all. I definitely ordered the option and it’s definitely listed on all of my paperwork as having been included with the car. Still, it sounds as though I’m short one USB port. Mysterious. I’ve found the Dashcam area under the MBUX Settings tab, so I should be good to go once I’ve figured out the USB drive situation.

There should be 1 USB slot under the front console door and two usb slots in the larger console storage compartment. Are you saying that there is a 12v outlet and only 1 USB slot? Look at page 112 in the owners manual l.

I have a USB slot and a 12v socket under the front console door and two USB slots in the center storage compartment. I can take photos tomorrow. Page 112 in the online owner’s manual (I’ll check the printed one in the car tomorrow) is about attaching the luggage net in the trunk.

You have everything in terms of outlets that you and I ordered. Just plug a usb-c stick into the usb slot in the console, go to the MBme apps screen, go to the dashcam selection, and configure the storage. Oh, the OM for the wagon is different than the one for the sedan. Sorry for the confusion.

Can you post a picture of the console compartment? Thanks

OK, I'm all set with the dashcam. I needed to buy a USB-C flash drive and, indeed, the front console slot worked fine. I find that somewhat surprising since it's adjacent to the wireless charging pad for the phone and, thus, it's the only nearby USB slot should I want to connect for CarPlay. I wouldn't think that CarPlay and dashcam usage would be mutually exclusive, but apparently so.

Thanks for the assistance; much appreciated! Now to work through my remaining list of mysteries...

Does CarPlay work with the other two USB ports, or only the front one? That would be annoying if you had to choose between CarPlay and dash cam recording...

I’ll have to figure that out over the weekend. I only use CarPlay on infrequent occasions for Waze on road trips, so it’s not a big deal to me either way.

AMG E63 Hammer Wagon. Alfa, Rover, Ferrari, Porsche.
So you cant use the USB ports in the center console (under your right elbow) for the dashcam? That would be the logical place for dashcam storage IMO, and I plug my iphone into the front compartment USB port for waze and music every time I get in the car.

On a related topic, the iPhone 12 Pro Max is too large to fit in the wireless charging pad pocket on my 2020, and I doubt its grown in the 21. Hasn’t really been an issue for me because I always plug it in anyway. Darn phones keep growing! 😄

My iPhone 11 Pro just fits on the charging pad. The Max is too big for me - too big for my normal-sized hand and too big for my pocket. One might as well use an iPad Mini! 😂

I just ordered this 1TB drive to put into the center console storage area:

SanDisk Extreme Pro® Portable SSD | Western Digital Store

Do we know if the system will actually accept a full 1TB of storage? I was thinking the system may have a limit of much less storage, and thus, may not allow something this large to connect? Maybe someone who already has their car can test larger storage drives to make sure?

The format is FAT32. I will partition it with 1 partition for music and the second for the dashcam. I was informed that it should work on the 2021 MBUX software.

Are you going to just leave it in the cup holder or on the wireless charging pad in the console then, or extend the cord somewhere else? Definitely let us know how it ends up working, size limit and all. Im curious how much data like 2 weeks of dash cam actually takes. Guess it depends on how much you drive?

No, it's going to be in the storage compartment connected to one of the ports in there. If you have multible USB devices connected, you will have to specify on the MBUX panel which drive is to be used. The reason not to use a USB stick is that it will wear out with all of the continuous recording. The external SSD is very robust. Someone else who has a Tesla is using the same setup without issues. Of course, I'll have to formally validate the operating environment after I get delivery of my car at the end of January.

Anyone installed a dashcam in their E63? Wondering how easy it is to hide the power cables and where to get the power from. Looking at the Blackview DR900S, which comes with a rear cam as well.

Did you try this and did it work? I can't get the Dashcam to work with a partitioned USB stick.

The music partition is the second one.
