i have heard some cars with this actually work as touchscreen, even though MB does not use the touchscreen on older models (mine is 2018). that would be a game changer, if this turned on touch screen!

I highly doubt that, but I will try to see if it makes it touch screen. I honestly prefer the dial, less finger prints. I actually adore the old key pad set up. It is much easier when I call and enter numbers.
Here is my initial review. I've played with it for an hour-ish. Please keep in mind that I'm not a professional reviewer.
This is connect via apple car play, it has Andriod functionality. It is running on Android platform. Within the android box there are Chrome, Google Map, YouTube, YT Music, Netflix and etc.
Initial impression was "Nice, finally I can run full screen" and that stupid Android Auto has taken 30% of the screen's real estate ever since I had taken ownership of my E63S Estate. I was super excited to see google map to run full screen however, it has its imperfection. Here are couple things I don't like and have concern.
Navigate with in apps
You can use your dial to select the initial app, once you are in there you will need to use the trackpad like a MacBook. You eventually will reach what you want to click on, but be patient. I wish my phone can turn into a keyboard like Android auto to type in address or search for things quickly.
Android auto
If you want to run Android auto, forget about it. It is slow and laggy. And once you are in Android auto, you are stuck in there. With no option to go back to MMB's main menu. I selected dark mode but nothing changed. The layout for Android auto is like the YouTube video I posted above. Unfortunately, there's no way to control to the music side with your dial. My advice, don't use Android auto, which could be a good thing because it still doesn't give you a true experience of full screen. Security The biggest concern is security, to work perfectly (I will give it another review, within a week, maybe) it needs data and google account. Currently, it is using my Mobile's data and bluetooth. I am pretty much giving it access to my life and I think everyone can imagine the potential danger.
In conclusion, it is a neat little device that solves the full screen problem. To use it at its full potential, you can use the device with a sim card (data only), memory card for storage and maybe a seperate google account. To me, I am debating playing with it more or simply just return it and live with the stupid Android logo. Overall, I will give the device 6/10 with potential of it being 8/10.

Buying a cheap iPhone or iPad that can carry a sim card. After years of searching. I think this is the best solution... Unfortunately.

Too much, I found it on Amazon 360ish cad. Last time I checked it went up to 400 ish. However, I don't recommend it. It's too laggy and slow. I saw an iPhone SE on sale for 399.99 and you can thethered internet off your daily phone.

this thread is for W213 Android Auto not displaying full screen. However, Car Play is capable of displaying full screen on W213/S213. Not sure about your GLC.
No, I'm sure there is a solution. I saw several videos and photos with CarPlay in full screen. Check this video and photo:
That's the previous COMAND system in the PFL, which supported full screen CarPlay. I have it in my '19 C63S, but the FL W213 now has MBUX, which doesn't support full screen CarPlay.

Your solution is to trade the car for a PFL W213.

Also, it's based on the newer Android 11 OS. You can watch the video on that same page, "Android Box demo on cars without the touch-screen," on E-Class, where it also demos some other Navigation apps, even some that don't require an internet connection.
Carplay does work full screen on a 2019 C Class. Also navigation worked without a SIM card (I used an old iPhone and forgot to use my Android phone's hotspot) and I got to my destination.
But weirdly, the Google Maps in Carplay and in Android Auto have different graphical interfaces and although Carplay is wide screen, Android Auto maximises the use of the space and to me is more effective and clearer to the extent I don't bother to plug in the iPhone.
But I also missed Google, she seems more intelligent than Siri.
this has nothing to do with android. this topic has been covered in many threads on older MB's MB chose not to add full screen support and certainly never will at this stage (for older cars)
Well, after the latest Android Auto update, some Mercedes models became compatible with the full-screen split in multiple windows, so you can control different apps on the same screen. But some models got only the split screen... but without full-screen coverage. Watch this video as it demos and explains both and why.

If you go into Settings and then About or Software, click on Update, or sometimes you need to go into APPS and update Android Auto independently. But not all Android phones have received this update yet, so it depends on your phone model and service carrier. Google calls this update a COOLWALK.

So, the problem is that Coolwalk is not dependent on your Android version or AA version (which needs to be the latest anyway). Google said it's a server-controlled switch, which is enabled gradually based on your phone and service provider. So, regardless of your version of the software, the new system has to be switched on from their server side, so you have to wait for your turn. But it should be completed within a few months or so. Most "pure Android" phones are already working, but some more complex smartphones are still waiting to be switched on.

I Recently got the S23U, almost wanted to flip the car when I saw this. Also had the google pixel 7 pro and that stupid logo. I've given up and decided that I will just get an older iPhone and use my android as an wifi egg.
